The only bulbs I've found so far are the Philips Long Life H11's. Those bulbs are available through Powerbulbs.com but you have to e-mail them ( sales@powerbulbs.com ) since they aren't listed on the site.

I have a sneaking suspicion though that they are the same bulbs we already have since the fogs are H11 Philips and Philips hasn't released the H11's in any other type (vision plus / cool vision).

Thanks for the legwork, Bisch

There seems to be a big difference between PIAA's price and the others. What do you think?

Are these more powerful than the standard bulbs?

Will they overheat in the small fog lamp enclosures?

Thanks

As long as you maintain the same wattage bulb, you should be fine. The Kelvin rating does not change the temp of the bulb, just the color spectrum (white/purple/blue etc)

Might I recommend you talk to Daniel Stern on whether or not there's any advantage to replacing the stock H-11's His website is http://www.danielsternlighting.com and his email is dastern@torque.net

When we last spoke about six weeks ago, his recommendation was not to try and do anything differently with the H-11's but things change. Ask the question again

Thanks Chief, for the link. I did get the 65 watt high beam bulbs from him through your recommendation. So he didn't think it was a good idea to go higher than 55 in the fog?

I thought I recognized your car...with the red mirrors !

What do you think of the 65 watt Ostrams as High Beams?

Misfitoy, I got my replacement H11's from Supreme Power. They have H11's in both 55W and 80W in Super White or Gold. I have 80W Gold for my MCS. I can't tell you how they are as my MINI is at the dealer waiting for dealer prep. I will pick it up next Friday.

Cheers,

JD

jd,

80 watts for the (plastic?) housing the fogs are in may be too hot a bulb to use, plus there's the load on the factory wiring to consider. 80 watts is a 45% increase over factory. Did Supreme Power recommend them...or did you just order them?

Since you haven't installed them as yet to know what they'll do, I'd email Daniel Stern and get his advice. It's free, but re-wiring the car won't be.

As you aren't increasing the wattage, it is not "more powerful", it is a cleaner, closer to sunlight color. They will appear brighter and more reflective.

I used the Hoen "Xenonmatch" bulbs .
http://www.hoen-usa.com/
Beware of using bulbs of a higher wattage than stock though.

You know, I never thought about the wiring harness and the plastic housing when I ordered these bulbs. I guess I will order the 50 watt bulbs instead! :???:

Cheers,

JD

Jim,

What do you think of the Xenonmatch bulbs? I haven't been able to find anyone who's actually used them until now.

Like them a lot. They match the low beams very well. Great service from Hoen as well.
