Plastic Grocery Bag Holder--location?

My salesperson installed my bag hooks before I could see where he put it. Its too low to be of much use. Can I raise it at least level with the seatback release? Is there a better place to relocate it?

That is really low and not much use. You can reinstall it higher. I think the place(s) are either on the right or left of the seat pulls, depending if you are right or left handed.

Or you could just use paper bags.

Yes. Mine is located in this area:

I just took a standard grocery bag, filled it up with some stuff and found the right hanging spot height and marked it. Then drilled into the back of the seat.

The dealer totally failed you here.

I use this thing all the time for take out food and grocery shopping. It really is a great little mod.

I love the eco bags! We can fit 3-4 in the MCS, and they don't spill or rip like the plastic bags do. You can also put so much more in them than a plastic bag, and carry them with one over your shoulder if you get the kind with longer handles. The width of the eco bags is pretty much perfect for the MCS.

Yep the dealer installed it wrong. I would take it back and have it installed correctly.

I usually use paper bags because I have a cat. Plastic ones are for meat and frozen items. I only got one side triangle net. Should I have gotten two? I'm going back to dealer and have it relocated to Oakland MINI's spot. Might as well take advantage of his research.
Thanks Guys!!

I carry six. They hold so much more than plastic bags and using them I can carry more from MINI to house per trip.

Yep considering the thing comes with instructions that tell you exactly where it goes...

It can go either side or both. You have to drill into the metal seat frame to install it. Bought one but decided it was not needed, was huge, gawdy and fugly IMHO. Sold it on eBay. Went with dual triangle cargo nets and eco bags.

In case you still need some assistance, I snapped a crappy cell phone pic of exactly where I installed mine in my R56. I went just slightly below being flush with the seat-fold lever:

I found that if I went flush, the bags would be a tad too high and tend to swing a bit and not rest nicely just barely on the bottom. Again, just filling up a supermarket bag and then seeing where you want it to hang is probably the best way to get the spot you want. But, to each his own...

In my pic is also another super cheap mod that I use ALL the time. The headrest-mounted straps that allow you to easily pull the folded seats back up when they are down. Straps go under each headrest post, and velcro to stay down. Another cheap mod MUST if ya ask me...

Thank You once again OaklandMini. You also showed me how to use my triangle net. Looks like a great place to carry a bottle of wine.

I was wondering how those nets are supposed to be used! I didn't have them in my R53. They pretty much just get in the way, but I'll have to examine them a bit more closely now that I see them actually getting used.

Great place for anything that rolls, like melons.

Definitely, I bought this at the dealership and installed it myself exactly where Oaklandmini has theirs. I would tell them to give you a new seat since they put holes in it. The grocery bag holder COMES WITH DIRECTIONS and measurements to put it exactly where it's supposed to go! I mean how hard is it for them to do that? They are supposed to be able to install things that take way more technical ability than a piece of plastic.
