what do you want to know about?

sorry, but it sounds like you don't know what any of this data means therefore you are just looking for bling ....

If looking for bling buy a couple of the right size and mount 'em but don't bother to hook 'em up. Most people look at your car when it is parked anyway . . .

OTOH what's the most useful? Depends on your concerns or what problem you are trying to solve.

overheating: water temp (maybe oil temp)

lubrication: oil pres' and or oil temp

ignition: volts and or amps

blower: boost pres'

more specific????

if one were going to install 4 gages in a MINI (forget what might already be there 'cept the tach and speedo) what would you's be?

Marshall Instruments makes a set of gauges that match Gen 1 factory gauges.
Oil PSI, Oil Temp, Water Temp, Volt, Vac./Boost
Top quality
They have web site.

Capt bj .... I'm not looking for bling. I thought that it would be good to be able to see what was going on with the car. I am use to being able to see gauges on my other cars. Do I not need gauges?
Thanks

I do wish I had boost pressure, someone noted that I could that with oem type VDO gauges that look identical to the MINI oem ones.

Here's the tread for Marshall. Long thread, but some pictures toward the end. I installed them and love them.

I have the water temp, oil pressure (both of those I consider mandatory) and boost gauge. I'd like to add the oil temp, but because of the design of the oil pan on the Gen 2 cars the sender is an issue. If you have a Gen 1 car, I understand you can install an adapter where the drain plug is for the sender unit. Check with Steve at Custom Mini Shop (SRTech), he should have everything you need to do the job (mounts, gauges, etc)

I agree with rjb. I also have the Marshall gauges and have the oil pressure, water temp, and boost gauges. The Marshall gauges look the best IMO!
