Heated Mirror Retrofit

I can't seem to find a thread on this, other than I think people have done it. After all this snow in the northeast, I really want heated side mirrors again.

Can I easily do this on my 02 S?

Easily? I don't think so. At a minimum you'd need heated glass and some wire. I have no idea where/how you'd tap into the right amount of power to run them. I doubt all the cars were wired for them, but I could be wrong. If that were the case, then it would be easy, but not cheap.

mini53, a good resource in MA is Greasy's garage in Worcester. google them, Pete and John are great and may have used parts or have a line on such for a very fair price. They found a pair of snow tires for my 05 runflats for a VERY fair price. I live just north of Boston, if you see a british racing green mini cooper, white bonnet stripes with a "Newbury, Vt" bumper sticker, that's me.

I think it is more like 1.6x GBP to USD. When I bought the electronic folding mirrors from them at £316 converted to $500.16.

Do I have heated mirrors or not?

Hi, I thought I could post here, but is a off topic.

How do I know if I have heated mirrors in my 2002 Mini Cooper R50? Is there a way to check for a code or something?

Let me know thanks.

Most heated mirrors (AFAIK) came in the cold weather package (CWP) with heated seats and wiper jets. So if you have heated seats, you probably have heated mirrors.
The definitive way to check is if you have a two black wires that attach to two connectors on the back of the mirror. (connectors seen here on the left) The post here tells you the easy way to remove the mirror. Note, there is a small chance of breaking the mirror with this method.
