IMO to pull off the matte look on any car, at the very least, it should be slammed & rolling on nice rims

Well mine is slammed as of tonight haha. I installed my megans and took out one locking ring to go lower, Ill probably take out the other come spring but Im worried about losing that extra shock travel.

As for the paint, Im still undecided, I really wanna do something matte, like the white or gray. I gotta talk to my buddy and see what he can do with it.

IMHO, I would not do a Matte or Satin finished car for anything other than a show car. It will show every single chip, rub and scratch and unlike a gloss can not be buffed nor even waxed. I had to detail two of the frozen gray M3s (pictured page one)and even just the wash was stressfull.

Even with a really good matte clear? I didnt think this would be that big a problem.

Matte finishes are semi porous. So you have to look at the down sides. Over time, dirt and environmental fall out will get trapped in the pores. Same thing happens to regular paint, BUT we have the option of clay barring or, in a worse case, wet sanding and buffing. Neither of which would be possible on a matte finish. Also, small scuffs can be buffed out on standard paints, not happening on matte finishes. Bird dropping also aren't very friendly to matte finishes. And, to throw more water on the idea, most matte finishes aren't very UV stable. They will just keep getting more matte as the sun shines on it. Think of it this way, how many 4+ year old matte finishes do you see?

Personally, we've done a few, but I highly discourage them.

I think wrapping them is the way to go. Saw a Ferrari Scud in Flat Black w/yellow stripe and it looked great. They just did a flat pearl white Koenigsegg that looked awesume. They are doing a flat red on a car soon.
Pretty cool and if you get tired of it or need to sell just peal it off.

Looks like MINI is coming up with a special edition car for France and it's matte black.
