Manual headlight angle adjustment

I was looking carefully at the left side of the steering column of my 2009 MCS and noticed an oval "knockout" plate. A little research showed that this was for a "headlight angle adjustment control". Apparently, some means exists to change the headlight angle from the driver's seat.
I have the HID headlights with the automatic levelers.

Does anyone have this lever/****, and if so - how can I add it to mine?

It is a european function which basically allows you to lower the light path during bad weather. I'm not certain but I believe that we don't allow that here in the USA which is why it isn't offered. I think that this was one of the features that had to be removed in order to import a grey market vehicle but I might be wrong. It is a nice feature to have in inclement weather and I often used it in Germany when I lived there.

My Dad has a Mazda 3 and it doesn't have it, are you sure? It would be a rotary dial to adjust the headlight level. I have never seen this on American cars. Probably a pointless feature as most Americans don't really drive with proper lighting anyway. If we have fogs most people just turn them on even if they don't need them. Much different driving in Europe where they tend to respect the rules of the road a little more. ALthough it is getting bad over there as well.

No, I mean actual headlamp adjustment - up and down, while you are driving.

Yeah my good friend has a 3 Wagon Touring with the HIDs and there is a little thing that looks like a dimmer rotary switch with something like 4 positions (0,1,2,3) on it, and they go up and down

the switch

sorry to get off track charles

No problem.

Since my headlights adjust with the rear axle position vs. the car body, and the lights go up and down every time I start it, it would seem that there is some way to do that manually - possibly through one of the buses.

For the Xenons they use the existing motors, for the halogen you must have a different headlamp unit installed. As I mentioned, this is an option that I have only seen on European cars but as pointed out above, there are a few with it in the USA. It doesn't raise the lights above the aiming point, it just allows for them to be lowered.

I wish they had this on American cars. :( It sounds useful.

I realize that the European models only adjust downward - but... If you manually adjusted them high, then (theoretically) you could adjust them up - or down.

And I don't think I have the halogens. I looked at my headlights and there is a little sticker on it that says DANGER! High Voltage. So I must have the Xenons.
