gloss black trim rings would be wicked nice, i've been also looking around for these lately but have yet to come up with any results =/

edit: on second thought. you can always pull your trim rings out, and spray them/get them sprayed gloss black. will take time and effort but im sure the results will look fantastic. I'm actually considering doing this to match my piano black interior.

That's my plan. I have the piano black trim and want to be rid of the lite grey trim rings. Doors should be easy enough but the dash ones are holding me back because of the time involved to pull the car apart. But I will be doing it and doing it myself. Proper cleaning and then painting with rattle can should make this achievable with a few coats of gloss clear coat to protect. Gloss black to match the piano black trim should look awesome. Only thing left will be the trim on the steering wheel and the HVAC/radio in that cheap-azz lite grey. The other option is plasti dip !!!

I never thought about the carbon fiber wrap idea. I have some extra carbon fiber vinyl and may give it a try this weekend to see what it looks like. What about gloss black vinyl? Seems like it would be an easy installation and really close to paint.

So what did you end up doing? My only hesitancy in ordering a MINI, was all the silver plastic in the interior. Of course, I've gotten over that and ordered one, but I still want to do something about all the silver plastic--all the little rings around the interior. Has anyone done anything with these pieces that you'd like to share?

I've pulled all my door rings out, 3 per door. They've been all spray painted gloss black and then gloss clear coat. The door handles I snapped back in place and they do look awesome. HOWEVER. The big however is in order to take out the speaker rings, you have to remove the hot melted tabs that hold them in place. In now looking at the rings, I'm wondering what to use to re-attach them back onto the door plastic so that one day I don't look down and the ring is gonzo because the adhesive let go.

Thoughts ???

Pics? My first thought would be a two-part plastic epoxy to rebuild/replace the part that was removed... But you might be able to just use a thin layer of clear silicon as an adhesive and have it hold fine - I don't imagine the rings weigh all that much.

I'm thinking of plasti-dipping my speedo ring black. The sun seems to hit it in just the wrong place. Not looking to remove it to spray though. Any thoughts on the wisdom of my plan?

I wouldn't spray plasti-dip or paint of any kind inside of my car. It's not that hard to remove - doesn't really warrant the potential for damage from overspray.

I wouldn't think plasti-dip would look very nice on an interior part so prominent as the center speedo ring, since it's going to be textured and would clash with everything else.

Outmotoring has a Carbon Fiber interior kit. I had it on my 09 MCS and it looked good. Simple install since they are covers. If they are not up on the site just call Aaron.
