Someone backed into our R53 10 days after we bought it. Grrr...

Well, we want to replace the slatted grilles with the mesh black ones and I was wondering where I can find them. Can I get them from the dealer or is it better to get them from another online source?

You can find some really high quality mesh grilles from M7 or WMW. They are called Ultimate Grills.

As a cheaper alternative, you can get the OE aero grilles from Mini.

 

Custom Mini Shop has M7 grills in stock give Steve a call and get a price quote his contact information is in my signature section. Tell him Tron Chief sent you over.

However, last time I checked they were OOS (out of stock). I've been waiting for a while now to replace my factory upper and lower grilles

 

Will all of these grills fit a factory R53? I just want to make sure I don't have to upgrade to an Aero bumper kit or anything.

 

Just checked out all the links. I am looking for more the Honeycomb JCW type from Moss Mini. I really like the looks of that and with what we are blacking out, it looks great.

Any other links for them?

And will it fit my factory R53?

 

For the factory JCW honeycomb style, the top grille will fit without modification, but the lower grille will require cutting of the stock MCS bumper to make it fit. It is actually not that difficult, just takes some time and precision.

 

Not the one sold by Moss Mini. I checked with them and they told me that you still have to remove the bumper cladding for the install, but there is no cutting involved.

It's not the MINI OEM for JCW but a replica that fits onto regular R53.

I'd check with their customer service just to make extra sure.

I think the ones that moss mini sell can be found on ebay much cheaper. Not sure if they are the same but they sure look like it.

 

The M7 grills are available in aero and stock bumpers upper mid and lower pieces. Really makes the car unique.

Can't speak for the Moss grills, but the ebay grills aren't terrible. Believe it or not, I just installed them this afternoon. Installation was pretty straight forward, if your are comfortable removing the front bumper. Interestingly enough though, the top grill was a bit of a P.I.T.A. as the attachment points were not threaded. The bottom grill fit w/o issue.

 

To me the OEM aero grills are the best of the bunch.
