Need advice

So this is my 08 MCS and I have some ideas that I wanted some opinions on. For some future changes I was thinking of purchasing the checkered top from Cooper Flags along with the checkered mirror caps from Mini (both white and black). In addition to the checkers I was thinking of getting the black replacement assents for around the grill and the front and rear lights. Finally somewhere down the road possibly some new black spoke wheels.

What are your thoughts on this? Have you seen similar styling on the dark silver... and so forth. I don't want to come across as worried about what everyone thinks of me/my car just wondering if you've seen anything similar

Thanks everyone!

I like the ideas and creativity. I can understand the feeling of wanting to change it up a bit plus its a Mini, they're meant to be customized. The checkers is definitely different and will stand out. I really like the black wheels. Would you be powder coating the web spokes you have or getting a new design altogether?

I would be getting a new set of wheels all together. I like the ones I currently have but there not my favorite. I'm also leaning towards the cooper flag for the roof because I will be using the car for surfing and snowboarding numerous times a week so the 3M also gives a little protection to the (show everything) black roof. I know with the roof racks it's only a matter of time before I scratch it putting something on/off.

* Keep in mind I am a new mini owner, just over a month now.

Well it sounds as if you have caught the Mod Bug.

All of what you mentioned sounds good.

The rims you have can be separated into tw0 parts making them very easy to paint/powder coat. You could do the chrome rings at the tire edge in body color and the center spokes in black. I think that would look slick.

And rather than black around the grill and lights maybe do them in body color. I saw a car that way and it looked really nice. But that is my opinion.

I like the idea about the body color rings around the lights and blacking out the grille. The one thing I'm really liking about the setup you have now is the way the chrome is understated and kind of carries through the whole car...like from the side scuttles, to the mirror caps, to the gas cap. I might re-think the checkered mirror caps in this case and just change the other things first and see how you feel after a while. Might even want to take some of the mod money and go for the black driving lights, especially if you're going to be doing any mountain driving. Just my opinion.

One step at a time.

I would leave the wheels and chrome trim for now. I think if you checkerboard the roof & mirrors you should also get the checkerboard that goes on the rocker panels and the checker sport stripes. Not the regular stripes but the SPORT STRIPES. (front & rear)

I think the car would look unique and great with all of those added. I think the chrome trim & the wheels you have would go better with the checkerboard accents then black would. Can't really tell for sure until you do the checkerboard stuff.

I think your car looks good now but will look unique after the checkerboard mods.

Wait until you do the checkerboard stuff before buying driving lights. If you keep the chrome you probably won't want black driving lights.
