work on a Clubman? There's red plastic over it instead of the clear plastic on the right side, but I'm not sure if the left side even lights up when going into reverse.

The rear backup light on the right side is weak -- the car needs both (like almost any other car has) to really illuminate when backing up, and I'd like to find out how to make it that way.

The red on the left side is for the rear fog (won't light up unless you have that option). You can purchase a left side Clubman taillight from the UK. The Clubman backup light in the UK is on the left side because of RHD. It's been mentioned and people have discussed doing it for some time, but I haven't seen anyone post that they've actually done it. You can order the taillight from a UK vendor such as: http://minigenuineparts.co.uk/

Thanks, RKW. That's too bad...sounds like a fairly big deal since there would be some wiring involved. I wonder if I can just put a more powerful bulb in the current location? Hmm.

Be careful of more powerful bulbs. They have a bad habit of melting the lens. You also do not know the ratings of the wires and sockets. Good news though. LED bulbs. They pull about 1/3 the power for the same light, so you can get three times the light for the same draw and waste heat.

My favorite trick is to mount a clear 55W fog light in the rear. Use the original wires to control a relay, and run new larger wire ( with fuse) to the lights. One white for backup. One Red, like the Hella, for fog. Same wiring trick for the fog.
