Interior/Exterior When to Replace Break Pad Indicator Sensors?
When to Replace Break Pad Indicator Sensors?
My car is a 2008 Mini Cooper S (R56) with approximately 25,000 miles. I recently removed my breaks to paint the calipers. When in reinstalled the breaks I must have made a mistake “clipping” back one of the front wear pad sensors. The sensor is now broken as it ended up pressing against the rotor and I need to replace it. (Note: the break warning light is now on).

My question is: If I buy a new sensor and try to connect it to a worn pad (used for about 25,000 miles), will the new sensor stay in its place? Or should I plan on purchasing a new pad along with the new sensor?

There will be a service indicator that come on in the box on your tach that should have the miles left on it. The guy that I tried get my sensor from sold me the wrong one so my buddy and I just spliced the 2 wires together taped out of the way and I did the ECU reset and no problems.
