Interior/Exterior Want Different Color Rear "Grills" on Aero Kit Bumper
The decals that come with the rear Aero Kit bumper are predominantly silver, which on a lighter-color car don't match the look of the stock MCS plastic grills which are black. For cars that are white, yellow, or silver, a darker grill would, IMHO, look better if they were darker. Below is a photo of the current MINI offering for the Aero Kit.
Is there anywhere to buy decals that are black?; or are there enough Aero Kit owners out there that would be interested in getting black ones made up by a graphics/silkscreen company and share the cost to lower the price. Please let me know, by posting a reponse, a PM, or email at carolla@scu.edu. Thanks

One idea is to go to M7 (I know they are selling front bumper grilles that are powder coated black or silver) and ask if they are working on anything for this aero rear bumper grille. You might work with Peter to see if you can make something that looks better than just a sticker.
Otherwise the idea of a sign shop or graphics vinyl adhesive custom design would be good maybe in dark silver or black with mesh pattern. Maybe talk to Cooper flags.

i left mine out since i hate the way they look in silver. i would like to see someone make it in black, maybe copper flags?? but i have been toying with the idea of making a part to go back there to match the font grills. it would be one of the first parts i would be making, along with some other parts....more on them later.

If there is interest in this we can make up a template that would allow any number of custom color applications for these decals. I'm guessing the cost would be at or near $40.00 for a custom color set-up.

Thanks to Matt at CooperFlags, it looks like I'll have the grills I'd like for my LY MCS soon.
And TwOMINNIs, I'll post some pictures when I actually get the work completed.
Thanks to all for your help.

Do you have any pics of how this turned out? Just put on the Aero kit and left off the decals as I really didn't like them, nor do they go with the kit.
I think it looks OK with nothing on it now, but I am interested in what you did.

Never Did Use the Rear Decals
Thanks for the PM Mandaboo.
The truth is I never did install the decals. Here's why:
Matt at CooperFlags took quite a while in getting me the decals. He used my original factory set as a pattern for size, and then tried to re-create the look of the factory, but only in reverse. Unfortunately, it didn't work!
The factory decals are silkscreened onto a patina-like surface, almost metallic, with the black dots screened onto the silver background. This color combination, mostly silver, doesn't look good on yellow cars with all the black trim. That's why I was hoping for something different.
I had Matt do two sets, one of which was black reflective material (black during daylight, reflectrive at night---like the old side stripes on the '70 Boss 302 Mustangs. I allowed Matt to pick the contrasting color---the one inside the wholes--and I didn't like what he used. Also, the dots (actually holes in the top layer of material) were bigger than the factory dots, so when he used a silver bottom layer (like the dull side of aluminum foil), the "dots" (holes) were more predominant than the dark "background", so in my mind it was worse than the factory inserts..kinda reminded me of a 60's Chevy front grill.
In the end, I just lost interest in trying to "best the factory." and just left the aero kit bare in the rear.
In fairness to Matt, I never complained. I just let it go. Perhaps by using a different base material color (darker) and getting a sample of each first, you could achieve the look of the stock rear grills better than how mine turned out. Matt's done the hard part, making a pattern that fit's like the factory's...you just need to use a different, darker base color
