Just finished, I've successfully installed the factory alarm in my 2012 mini cooper s. So it is possible, but let me warn anyone looking at doing it. It is hard.
Pictures coming soon, but here is the quick summary:
Remove battery connectors
Remove wiper arms
Install tilt sensor/siren under wiper motor
Install hood switch
Run wiring harness to the through the firewall on the driver's side
Remove all interior panels
Remove Radio
Remove A pillars
Remove top of dash

Wire up CAS and steering wheel. (Note the CAS is under the top of the dash just above the steering wheel.)
Run rest of harness over to the fuse box on the passenger side. (Pick a very direct route as harness is barely long enough. I went under the glove box.)
Wire up all the connections in the fuse box
Run remaining wires up A-pillar on the (right) passenger side
Install sensor in head unit
Close up and put it all back together
Get coding with NSCExpert ($302 added to the FA)
Words of warning:
Wiring diagram uses German abbreviations for colors.
Harness is shorter than you would think.
A lot of the connectors are in what I can best describe as cases. These will prevent the insertion of pins. You must remove these cases first.
Install guide in post #48 of this thread. The pictures I promised and never delivered are below (apparently the lighting, the camera, and the photographer all were terrible):
The right side cowl needs to be removed Left side windshield cowl needs to be removed Wiper motor is on the left side, the rubber grommet on the far right side of this photo is where I ended up running the wires through the firewall Wiper motor with siren installed to the left of it. (apparently the lighting and my phone's camera were pretty terrible in 2013) This is where the hood switch gets installed Kombi wiring exposed, we need to attach a wire here to enable the red flashing light Taking apart the dash Taking apart the dash
Curious, is there an alarm retrofit kit available for F60 2018 Countryman SE?
I installed an interior rear-view mirror with compas and remote garage door opener and exterior auto-dim mirror triggered from the light sensor in the interior mirror. That mirror has the bump haning down with an LED meant to flash with the armed alarm. I'd like to make that work if possible.
