My iPod/iPhone Mount. Show yours!

My brother gave me some crapy mount, it was like faded white/yellow and all scratchEd up. With the use of plastic-dip and some leftover fabric I had from my headliner, I made It look pretty decent! I think the hardest part was bending the metal mount to fit in between the arch and the radio! Check it out and let me see yours!

My iPhone mount. Its actually a GPS mount, but with the particularly thick case I have, it works well and allows for easy release. The charger is clipped to the back of the mount and an AUX cable can be swapped between the Sirius and iPhone, although I primarilly use the iPod hooked into my Drive + Play.

Well, my cylinder head blew on Thursday. So I'm pretty sure that my car is in perfect condition to be compared to the average NASA project... JCW head on the way...

Thanks for any tips!

(PS -- my iPhone "mount" is just my cup holder. lame eh? )

I use a kuda mount for my GPS mount. It looks cool as hell and no need for the friction mount. It mounts to the dash and blends right in.

and a cool floormount for my ipod which is in hand distance. It has a flexible stand and you can change the cradles out

Okay so I got all of the mounting parts over 3 years and never realized how much had been invested on them. So, thank you for making me realize that.

The Sirius mount is a PanaVise R53 Accessory mount. By adding a PanaVise 6" expansion plate, the Mobi Technologies GPS mount could be added to the set up to hold the iPhone.

The GPS mount is a ProClip USA Hard Mount attached to the MINIdoMore Tach-Mount accessory plate. Because the mounting location affected the line-of-sight from the satellite to the StreetPilot 2610, I had to add an antenna, but that was about $10 on eBay.

The iPod is mounted using the combination of a mess of pieces from different products, so I don't know how to recreate that.

Here are the details I was able to pull together.

Bracketron Male Clip Receiver $6.95 + $8 S&H

Bracketron Mobile Device Mounting Kit (iPod) $12.95 + $8 S&H

ProClip USA Garmin StreetPilot 2610 Hard Mount $34.99 + $9.50 S&H

MiniDoMore Tach-Mounted Accessory Plate $40 (Includes Shipping)

Mine is extremely simple but works well. I just bought an audio input cable, plugged it into my glove box, and cut an X on the bottom of my cupholder and slid the jack into the bottom of it. Since my ipods headphone jack is on the bottom, it plugs in fine. Ill post a pic later.

About $20 for the floormount which puts your Ipod into reach and you can bend it as you wish.

I bought the Mini dash mount but U think the mount for the GPS from somewhere else is better.

Two good sites for GPS and Ipod mounts that you don't have to drill holes for.

Just a comment on this topic based on an experience since my post(s)...

I love the mini's interior. I love that it already feels like a spaceship. As insanely over the top as my set-up was, I loved it. That said, this type of layout will most likely get your car broken into.

About a week after the last post my car got thrashed. So a word to the wise, be careful. I always was, but I got burgled in a 1-way-in/1-way-out, cameras recording, 24-hour-a-day on-site security, garage.

That said, the setup was so complex and secure that Progressive did give me a full payout for the parts. The stipulation is that to be covered, items must be "permanently mounted." The adjuster said he had never paid out on an aftermarket (non-DIN) GPS before, and that Progressive had never paid out on a dockable satellite radio receiver.

Just some information to chew on...

I take it the guy that did it was caught?

The info on Progressive paying out for permanently mounted objects is a great tidbit.

Yeah, I don't even have mine like that anymore. Planning on cutting out a spot in the dash or somehow integrating my iPhone 3GS into the car that way I can use it for Rev (the iPhone app)

Haven't figured it out yet though!
