Rear seat delete: flat floor and spare tire solution.

Here's my newest mod! My dad was the mastermind behind this one.

The best part is there is now space for a donut spare tire. No more expensive RFT's for me!

Very Nice... I did mine as low profile and minimalistic as possible. At the time it seemed like a good idea, BUT... God I HATE those run-flats! Good plan, and well executed.

The panel that is shown being lifted comes all the way out so I can pull the spare (that will be there) out through the back.

I know you don't need to very often, but how hard is battery access?

Well, currently I have to remove the stealthbox that's back there, then I can access the battery.

However, the piece of floor at the back is also a separate panel that just lifts out. So as far as the floor goes, it's easy access.

You could cut the back carpet into segments. I might do this so my amp will stay put when I flip up for the battery. But, my amp is bolted to the carpet piece, so it doesn't actually go anywhere as it is.

I was thinking about doing that, but I know the carpet piece has a plate of some sort on the bottom. I'm not sure if I cut alongside the plate if I will clear the box. Do you know what the plate is made of?

very neat!

I wish someone would come up with something interesting for the cabrio that would include a back where the seat back would normally go. Lol would be interesting

I'm pretty sure mine is just carpet over a heavy cardboard with some squishy foam on the underside as backing.

Sounds like it's time for me to start cutting then...

OK, so there is definitely a hard wood/metal (I don't remember which...it's been a while) plate above the battery in the carpet floor piece. But I cut through that and now I can easily access my battery. The spare tire is now installed and I added pics above.
