Stuck Shift ****

Like everyone else I was ready to replace my stock shift **** and went ahead and bought one from another NAMer. I assumed the stock **** would simply twist off but no matter how many profane names I call it the thing won't torque off. I tried pulling up the cover and checking for a screw or something underneath but I couldn't find the answer. Does it simply twist off? Am I missing something? Please help me out. I really want to put my new JCW **** on.

Do NOT twist. Just pull...HARD. I find it's easiest if you put the transmission in 2nd and brace against the dead pedal. (This is of course assuming that you have a manual... no clue for the automatic.)

REAL hard straight up. Open sunroof, if applicable, and watch your forehead!

....this is an OEM ****?

When I did it I put my left foot on the driver's seat, right foot on the passenger's seat, butt perched between the two about shoulder level, and pulled up. It actually popped off pretty easy cause I could use my legs for power. Don't hit yourself in the face.

Haha thanks guys! Act 04 I actually used your squat lift technique and while a felt rediculous in my car it was extremly effective. The JCW **** is 100 times better but taller than the OEM ball so now its time to chop down to a shorter shifter. Thanks again for the advice everyone.

YES! It does feel silly, but works really well.

Hmm... I must be strong. I can pull it off with just one hand.
