@MyMiniGadget:

Here are my cupholders in the daytime. My car was finished this morning, so I haven't gotten a chance to see them in the dark yet, but I will definitely be taking more pictures of all the mods later tonight The cupholder process was relatively easy, and as you can see I can still fit bottles in there even with the added switch holder, I just won't be able to fit very tall/wide to-go cups. I was very please with how the lighting looks even without the water bottles, kind of an unforseen added bonus with the way we angled the LEDs. Either way, I'm excited to have my baby in one whole piece again

Here's mine. Pretty simple, two led strips that I put into plastic tubes and ziptied underneath using an add-a-circuit to power them:

Night shots of the cupholders! Sorry I didn't get these up earlier, it completely slipped my mind the past few months. Anyways, the cupholders each have one superflux LED from Oznium.com drilled into the bottom edge nearest the shifter and angled slightly toward the dash. All in all, it was a super-easy mod that only takes a few minutes once you get that piece out. I have them wired to a switch so I can turn them off as needed because those suckers are ridiculously bright, as you can tell even in the daytime shots.

Did anyone wire in the LEDs to the inside door handles? That's what I'm interested in doing but I have an R53 without any lighting at all so would have to figure out where the wiring should come from.

I have a 02 MCS, and was wondering the same thing. Spent several hours wiring everything up, then realized I'd have to drill a hole in the wiring harness, and snake wire thru some almost impossible routes. I really want to leave my MINI as stock as possible when it comes to wiring. I hate having to cut wires and then rewire, just to remove pieces of the car. If I could find a newer wiring harness for the door, I might be able to get it closer to factory, where things can be unplugged, and plugged back in easily.
Surely someone has done this in a early R53. From what I can see, it can be done. Just not easily.
Unfortunately, for me at least, the "Mood Lighting" is on hold.

I'm digging up this very old thread because - well - how cool does that look!! I think I'll do some additional lighting and copy some of these ideas. The outside door handle lights aren't my style but I love the inside lighting.
