Now as to the double 5% - please do me a favor and stay the f#$! off the road when I'm on it. There's slim to no chance you'll see my black car coming the other way.
A few questions!
1. Sand them down? But wont this scratch the crystal?
2. The fact that the border is seen might it have to do with the 5% tint?
3. Another option is to paint black on the dots? Has anyone got any pics to show this? Need to see this as im not sure how that would look!
4. what is the purpose of those dots anyway?

That double 5% tint is insane. I had a car with 5% all around and I could not see AT ALL at night. I had to drive with the windows down in order to see anything. Driving at night when it was raining was an exercise in faith. Parallel parking at night in the rain was ridiculous. I could not see the sidewalk or the car behind me.

I don't know how someone can manage with double 5%.

btw, when I had that car I did get pulled over and ticketed a couple of times.

Beware Washington County Ohio!

The Ohio Highway Patrol are nutzo about tint down there. I had a very dark tinted truck (not sure of the specs as I bought it used) and got a "fix it" ticket. Threw that in the trash and just relied on the windows down button every time I saw a trooper for the next few years 'til I sold the truck.

I'm in that county about twice a month so it pays to be alert. I'm researching tint for my 2011 MCS.

BTW, the troopers always run in pairs in Washington County.

Does anyone know of a good place in New Jersey to take my Mini for tints? A place on route 3 West charges $250 for all windows but the windshield... too expensive.
Thanks

$250 doesn't sound to expensive.
You got to know what kind of tint your getting.
Do some searches on google.
My favorite that I've used on all my cars are LLumar.

LLumar is great. You are going to pay that much money around here One. I live right by you - let me know if you need a place - I'm actually going tomorrow to get my front strip redone since I had a new windshield put in yesterday.

215Motoring does great work, they are $99-120 Philly/South Jersey shop of choice and carries Sun-Gard, SunTEK and LLumar tint. On my Mustang Cobra to help the back and rear windows from the "dot matrix" border they use black vinyl instead of sanding or painting on my Mustang Cobra which has a lot of those damn things. http://www.215motoring.com/

thanks for the advice

hey...just wanted to say thnx to all the folks on this thread...the pics and advice were excellent. it helped me narrow down a "tint percentage."

i ended up going with 20% all around except the front. i was worried about night visibility...which is not an issue...not even in rain.

if you're in NYC, i recommend The Art of Tint. it may not be the cheapest (especially if you have the dual pane sunroof), but i've had 0 problems with my tint. had it for about a year.

LOL. Awesome! I was wondering who owned the actual GOKART license. So glad to see it's another MINI.

Anybody have a picture of White Silver with 20 or 30%? I'm debating between the two.

35%

I have 35% all the way around except for the windshield on this picture...I have since added 35% on the windshield too. Sorry for the sideways photo. Where do you live in Baltimore? I am in Baltimore County (Pikesville). If you are looking for a tint shop you should check out Personal Touch they do really great work. Ron is the owner, he and his son Little Ron do great work. The address is:
8503 Liberty Rd
Randallstown, MD 21133
410 496-5904

Make sure you tell him that Anthony T sent you (we went to high school together).

I got 25% on my front windows and back is all limo. I am thinking of also getting now a tint strip on my front windshield. But I might not. Good luck, I'll post pictures of mine after I wash her.

My pre-owned Clubman came like this from a MINI dealership - I'm not sure what percent the tint is but it's very cool inside the car and you can see out real good.
