So, your rear and rear-side windows transmit 1% of the available light...sounds great for night driving.

You have the Huper Optik 30 on this car? It seems to have a green tinge and looks to be factory. Nice!

That was dumb of me to think that the car had tint in the first pic
Does it have a green tinge to it ? Is there lighter available?

No, nothing green about it in my opinion. And yes, they also make a 40 and 50 ceramic tint. I've had many different tint brands and types on previous cars, and this is my favorite. It will have some tiny air/water bubbles for a couple of months after installation, but they do go away.

I went to a new car show, there was a new Volkswagen SUV with green glass(or tint?), very cool, very sophisticated. I asked the saleman if I could get that glass in a CC(looking for a car for my wife) he was clueless. So now its a quest to find something like what a saw on the VW

does anyone else feel like they bake in the sun during the day? I know in PA that "sunscreening" over 70% (ie less than) is illegal, but I seriously roast in my car. I have never felt the need to tint my windows more... I am going with 35% and cross my fingers. I see soooo many people driving around with tint these days, I can't imagine I will get pulled over too much for it.

Heck, one of the Coopers I looked at while shopping was at a dealer and had 35% tint on it...

I have 50% in the front, 20% in the rear and 5% on the sunroof. I just found actual blackout tint (0%) and put it on the wife's front sunroof. She loves it.

I did get pulled over in CT and the tint was checked. With 50% in the front it was not a problem.

I know this is a 2nd gen thread, but a search for window tint points you here... Anyway if you live in or around SE Pennsylvania, I recommend a guy in Telford - Ash Kernan of Caveman Tinting. He did an excellent job on my ride and was very courteous and efficient. Would definitely recommend him for all your tinting needs...

$225 for 35% all the way around, and 15% on the sunroof (to get a combined 5% look)... He uses Llumar tint only.

Jeez, you all are... Well, 5% on windows? How the heck do you see anything at night?

Anyway, when you are at the eye doctor getting your eyes examined, just have them sign the form, (download from the MVA) saying you need tint. Voila... you can have any tint you want. Just keep the form in the car.

It doesn't keep you from getting hassled, but no tickets.

Wassup E. Do you have a hard time seeing out the back window at night (when driving in the city)? I'm thinking about 20 or 35 all around (except for windshield).

I have 20 on the back three windows and 35 on the front two. I am thinking about putting 20 on the fronts but the 35 is nice also. When it rains and the windows are up it is tough to see through the mirrors when backing up and night even with the 35 lol

20% all the way compared to 35% - (wish I went 15%) - the pictures above look way darker that it really is - it was probably overcast when that pic was taken - if you take it in direct sunlight you will see right through 35%

I've got 20% all the way around, and I gotta say, every now and then it's difficult to see when turning corners or trying to use the side mirrors while backing up at night.

I wouldn't go any darker unless, of course, you're not planning on driving at night.

3M tint

I got 3M tint applied and it is guaranteed for life. I had it on my last 2 cars, which were 5 and 8 years old, and never had any issues with tint peeling or cracking. And I live in South Florida, where the hot sun is really hard on tint. So, if you can get 3M tint, I highly recommend it. I paid about $200 for mine.

I have a 2010 Chili red Clubman with a black roof and I really like the dark tint. On the rear side windows I got the darkest allowed in Florida-I have no idea of the number, but it is really dark. I cannot even see my kids through the windows when I am standing outside. The front passenger windows are a bit lighter because that it what Florida law requires, and the windshield has no extra tinting, again, because that is what the law requires. I also have my rear barn door windows tinted, almost as dark as the rear passenger windows. I really like how the black roof blends in with the tinted windows. I had been considering getting a roof graphic when I bought my MINI, like a checkerboard, but now I kind of like the sleek black roof next to the tint.

Good luck!

that "whitish" border is where the windshield "dots" are and the film doesn't stick great. If you press on it repeatedly over time, especially when warm, it will do better, but never totally disappear. Pro tinters will sand those down or paint over them in solid black before tinting.

Now as to the double 5% - please do me a favor and stay the f#$! off the road when I'm on it. There's slim to no chance you'll see my black car coming the other way.
