Carbon fiber hoods?

anyone out there making carbon fiber hoods for the R56 yet? I have yet to come across any info yet... I am thinking of stopping by AECarbon and seeing if they have any plans to make one. I would even be willing to donate my hood if they need a model to use..

this is for the 2nd gen minis. the 1st gen has cf hoods.

i'd be first in line if there was a cf hood for the r56.

I'd be 2nd. Seriously, if it wasn't too expensive. The stock hood weighs way too much.

i think a CF hood and boot will be hard to come by on the 2nd gen.

reason?

slow economy. When the 1st gen was out, the world economy was going nuts. everyone had credit cards and everyone loaded up on stuff they really couldn't afford. Now everyone's taking a step back.

It'll turn around though. The best way to get stuff like this going is to get a list of people, contact a company and get them to make a mold. Once the mold is made, making the part is easy.

because of the economy, I don't think companies will start making these high price items without guaranteed buyers.

Well whoever has got contacts with people that make CF parts lets get a group buy going. I would buy bonnet, fenders, doors, and boot. Thats some good weight loss.

Exterior, like these.
The guy I use was going to do a roof cap for me but needed a minimum of 5 which never happened, so if you get someone to do the bonnet, I'm sure it would have to be worth his time in order to even consider it.

I keep a constant eye on this site since our fellow MINI fans over in Japan seem to be on the ball with custom mods to the R55 and R56 including CF.

MiniRob2, ...where do those go? I was talking about the area on the sides of our Mini near the front wheels (I thought that was called the "A-Pillars" ..maybe I am mistaken?).

The picture is what I would call 'a pillars' between wind screen and door. The panel right behind the wheel is usually called 'a panel', at least that's my understanding. But now I know what you were referring to.

Thanks MiniRob2,

Man, I keep going back to that Japanese site ...the products look so cool.
Check this one out:
http://bond-mini.jp/diary/img/img869_r-vit_image.jpg
It appears to be an electronic guage that gives information on everything from Speed, Boost, Water temp, Drag, etc... It looks like it plugs into our Mini's? (my imagination tells me there is no need to run cables through the fire wall, etc...). Man I wish someone would import all this stuff to the US on a site I could understand!!!

How hard is it to order from that website cause now that it has some of the Carbon parts that I want looks like interior carbon is getting ready to happen.

okay, so some retail store needs to get in contact with someone over in japan.

seriously, that site shows HKS exhaust, coilovers, etc.

seems like there's a lot of parts out there that aren't being marketed to the US. i want more competition.

The door mouldings may be but the MFSW controls aren't 1st Gen specific.
