Converting Cooper S fuel door to Cooper

I need to replace my Cooper S fuel door with a Cooper one. I've got the Cooper fuel door and accompanying hinge, but I was hoping to find a shortcut that would allow me to pop it out instead of having to remove the interior panel to get to it. Has anyone done this?

Maybe try a search on here, I thought I saw a post about the MCS gas cap just screwing off...
Maybe someone who has done this will chime in...

I've done a search. The gas cap is just a matter of releasing a tab and unscrewing it, but the Cooper S has a different hinge than the Cooper does. Unfortunately I think you have to get to it from the inside of the car to release the tabs holding it in place.

my guess... wheel well liner needs to be pulled back or removed and maybe you can access it from there instead of taking the whole rear interior panels out? i dunno man. hope you can figure it out

Just out of interest why are you swapping a COOPER S fuel door for a plain COOPER one!?!?

Odd to me. The COOPER ones are boring just like every other car around ie. citroens, vauxhall's. No offense just think its odd to get rid of a part that makes an S an S.

I have no idea why I didn't think of going through the fender liner, thanks!

Any update on the fuel door? I'm doing the same swap. Have the fuel door, still need the hinge. Where did you get your hinge and how much did you pay, if you don't mind.

I would be interested in going the other way. I like the S door. Do you want to sell the S one?

I got all my parts from Morristown MINI. I think the total for both pieces came to about $30 (unpainted). I'm not selling my S cap because I'll likely reinstall it once I sell the car.

Here's the end product:

It looks like you changed the spoiler to a standard Cooper spoiler as well. Looks good, and I am sure much easier to clean.
