Chrome black out

I am really close to ordering some gloss black vinyl and doing it myself, but i want to weigh out all my options first. i know of vinyl styles and aesthetic creations, but what else is there? what did those of you who blacked out your chrome do?

I used both companies and I'm %100 satisfied with my black out process. I have all my pieces in Gloss Black. Gas Cap, Side Shutters, Belt Line, Door Handles, Emblems, I just need Head Light and Tail Light Rings. I'm not the kind of guy to paint or wrap these parts myself I enjoy paying someone else to do the hard work.

If you are looking to do vinyl I would probably pay someone to do it unless you have some experience. I tried with bad results. Most of the chrome pieces are compound curves that are not easy to cover. If you are looking for gloss black your only options are vinyl, paint or the new molded parts form AC. The price on the new parts looks good but they are not proven. They just came out so they have not been throught all the seasons so who knows how they will hold up. I personaly went with plasti dip on everything except the belt line which is vinyl and I did just order some of the new molded door handle covers because the plasti dip does not hold up on the handles.

I ordered the molded handles form AC. They are actually covers that fit over the stock handles and they come in flat black to match my plasti dip. I looked into all the other options for the handles and they are all pretty expensive and/or a pain to install. Right now they are painted with plasti dip but starting to peel around the edges. I figure I could just keep redoing the plasti dip but for $50 I would rather have something that will last and is still reversible.

it is very hard to wrap the door handles and gas cap... believe me... i tried several times.

I ended up doing the door handles in 2 pieces which turned out ok but the problem was that apparently some of my passengers have claws for hands and scratched up the vinyl.

Needless to say, as soon as i found out AC had the molded black plastic handles for 50 a pop, i ordered it.

I really would have wanted CF but i figure the black would match better and costs less.

I would look for a sign shop in your area. Most of them will sell you vinyl and that way you can actually see and feel what you are getting. I find with things like this it is hard to tell what you are getting over the internet.

already did that, and i didn't really like there black vinyl. it wasn't gloss black, and for 2 feet x 4 feet (or something around there, don't remember) and they were going to charge $150, where decalfx.com has the same amount for 50, and it is gloss black. there stuff seems pretty legit. look here: http://www.decalfx.com/vinyl_sheets.html
you guys think it looks like high quality stuff?
if i buy it and like it, i'm going to do my fenders with it too

$150 for a 2 x 4 piece of vinyl ?? That's CRIMINAL.

You can get an entire roof vinyl with an intricite, printed graphic on it for $250. Entire roof ! And that's good vinyl... 7 year stuff.
