>>Are they purely cosmetic or do they provide a measurable performance benefit?
If they force some air to flow into the rear of the engine compartment with the air box mod done to let air into the backside of the MCS airfilter-aftermarket like the Alta or Madness or Pilo intakes then it should have some positive effect so some benefit for colder air.
Personally I think that look good if painted and the stock grilles are cheap looking and falling apart if you have the 2002 version. The 2003 version-current version is not as bad- doesn't have the cheap foam.
The promini price is expensive at $119 vs $99 for the same item at the chicago link but Promini is a sponsor of MCO.

I have those too.
They really do clean up the look of the car.
I reccomend that the airbox modification be performed when using these "scoops".
The intake dynamics are changed with this install.
That's what my "ears & ***" told me, no other diag involved.
These "scoops" change what is normally an "exit" into an "intake" and
without the airbox modification they seemed to be a detriment to the
performance. After making swiss cheese out of my airbox, the whole
mod works great and rids me of those honeycomb vents that I really hate
The rhyme was unintentional.
Yeah for the scoops!

Yeah for the scoops!

I understand that the scoops SHOULD help air into the area under the hood but...
if that area is really a negitave pressure area, is air actually being forced into the scoop. Second, the area of the acutal opening seems smaller with the scoop which could actually restrict volume. That being said, I really like the look. Actually would prefer the scoop to be a bit taller, not much, maybe half an inch. Thoughts?

>>How is the fit and finish?
>>Do they look "aftermarket" or do they fit well?
>>
>>Did anyone else notice any problems like Steel Kite?
Fit and finish was very good. Took a bit of luck getting the wing nuts tight since I have a larger than average hand. Its tight under there and I did have a problem getting them tight but I did manage after a few tries.

They come white and need to be finished. Little sanding and add primer. Painted them black cause I just like the look and want them to stand out. I think they looked better the accent color rather then the primary color. And I already had a pint of black. That also made the choice easier.

I have a body shop at work (I'm at a Ford Dealership) and I just paid the guy in back 10 bucks to paint mine up.. I'm going with white to match the roof on my EB/W MCS, and I may pull the nose scoop and do the same for the 3 intake effect... The install looks fairly simple. The scoops come in primer white, but they need some sanding before paint can go on. Once I get them installed I'll post pics.
