Aero bumper vs stock...

Hey guys

So, my appraiser came yesterday (I got hit last week [red arrow], a lady on a hill stalled and rolled back into me) cracked my bumper among a few other things.
I'm okay-
The appraiser said I'd need a new bumper cover... and I didn't even really pay attention to the pieces of the bumper until he pointed it out, saying that only the piece surrounded by the blue (bumper cover) will be replaced...
Is anyone familiar with the parts of the S bumper? I want to upgrade to the aero bumper, but looking at it now, it seems like I'll need the bottom valence lip too.. as the aero bumper seems to be one piece with the fog light insert area (unlike in my picture)...

And, how much is the aero bumper, does anybody know? They quoted me for a new upper grill and a hood realignment too, but the grill-i just pulled the clip out as thats how it was when i got hit, but its perfectly fine- so I may just apply the money towards the new aero bumper to upgrade...

If anyone knows where to find the price of the new oem parts, please let me know! Maybe some dealer reps here can chime in?? Thanks!!
ps, do I need a new lower grill for the aero bumper?

(this is the aero bumper im talking about, the JCW)

I no one responds, just call your local dealer and ask the parts department, they'll give you the price.

For Aero Kits, I would call Morristown MINI in NJ. I believe they were offering free shipping on these before.....? Either way, their prices cant be beat.

Those are the aero kits for the 1st gen MINI. He wants the JCW aero kit for the R56.

I bought my complete kit from the dealer, ..they charged me $2700 for the front, side skirts, back, door sills that say JCW, and rear JCW exhaust tips -painted and installed.

Not sure that all dealers will necessarily sell just a partial kit as I believe they order the entire kits from the factory. -I don't know that they'd want to break up a complete kit and just sell you the front portion.

I can not get to the parts diagram right now but if you check it out on pelican parts or at the dealer (the guys at HC are very nice).

You can buy any piece of that kit separately through dealers as well as vendors here on NAM (call WayMotorWorks, Detroit Tuned or others). The individual parts all come primered other than the black trim pieces.

If you look at the first two diagrams here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.d...31&hg=51&fg=15

..you will see the different pieces of the standard MCS bumper. The chrome upper grille trim is interchangeable with the black JCW upper grille trim pieces.

ah, thanks! looks like the outline of the bumper is one piece, then two seperate fog light grills, and the two valence trim pieces, so if im getting the whole bumper piece swapped, all i need is to pay for the fog light grill/housing pieces, a lower grill, and the valence pieces...
this might be a hit! [no pun intended]

I'm in the same position right now. Got hit, thinking of upgrading to JCW front. You can purchase just the front JCW bumper but you have to pay for the bumper cover, 2 fog light surrounds, 2 bottom valences, and lower grill. After paint, I believe this came out to $680, uninstalled (they gave me 20% off the parts, not the paint; I'm going to install myself).

Also, Morristown MINI does offer 20% off accessories but my dealer will always match it, so I would ask yours the same. Just tell them you would like to buy local, but Morristown is cheaper, and they should step up and match it.

funny... i got a quote from insruance for 685.76, for bumper cover, upper grill(which i actually dont need, but he thought was broken), and a hood realignment.
so without the grill and .5 hr install, thats 126 im "saving" that they are giving me...
i got quotes for prices on parts from morristown,
2 fog grill inserts
lower JCW grill
and two lower valence trim pieces,
comes to 208.85 (and none of these need to be painted! just installed! woot!
so with the 126 applied, it'll be 82$ for the upgrade, plus $ to install, but popping in grills and trims are all just clips.. meaning i could even do it myself

funny thing is.. on the insurance rap sheet they actually quoted me for an 'aero bumper cover' @ like 268 or something$... lol oops o well.

i called boston's herb chambers parts dpt.. left a msg, but they've never called me back... figures.
