i had an underbody l.e.d. tube that would not fit in the back of my 04 cooper s because of the exhuast.. i had it under there for about a week but i didnt like the way it looked so i decided to do something else with it.

1. i removed the l.e.d. strip from the tube rewired all the grounds to one single ground to complete the circuit..

2. i used silicone to insulate all the resistors and wires so that when its installed it wont ground out to the car anywhere.
3. i removed the rear carpet and drilled small holes where each l.e.d. will be which was a bit difficult for me to do, with all the measurements and only one carpet.. kind of a preassure builder.. lol anyways.
4. wired up the l.e.d. strip to the car with a switch in the front.
5. placed strip behind the carpet.. i did not secure the strip to the carpet because of those metal brackets on each side of the boot (i have to make the strip go throught those brackets) if they were secured to the carpet then i wouldnt be able to put in the strip or get the carpet out if needed later.

not too hard but was a bit time consuming for me.. i didnt take any pics while working only finished product.

Very creative with the boot, you need some more underglow under the front bumper to keep the flow going though. I have seen the scoops done before and they only really look good in red or orange like yours.

i agree with the front underglow.. still trying to decide how i want to do this though.. with the low clearance its difficult to make the light look dispursed.. and i didnt think about that when i got those l.e.d.s

That looks great. It looks like it provides a lot more light than the stock and ties your exterior lighting colors in nicely with the inside.

Wow... quite functional! I don't think there's nearly enough light in the boot with the stock light... although... if your boot were full of stuff, I guess the light would still get blocked... but still...! Awesome idea!

I like the idea of hiding the LEDs under the carpet my only thought or suggestion would have been to put them on the other side cause the way you have them they are illuminating right in your face when you have it open. If it was on the opposite side they would shine inward and light the back as well. Hopefully you wont have any flickering issues like some of us have had.

Mount it BEHIND the brush guard.
Two reasons. One, it somewhat protects it, two, it doesnt show the tube that bad.

All I did was screw into the plastic, no big deal.

As for the rear, I have a Non-S so i can actually use a tube haha.

Youre screwed as far as mounting a 36" tube on an S in the rear.

If a cooper S wanted to get rear LEDs you could try to 12 inch sticks in front of the mufflers on either side.

I like the workmanship on the boot LEDs, if you've got some more take a look at ImagoX's posts of Nano, he did some pretty extensive LED work.

Style and legal wise I'm not a fan of the under car lighting

i thought about that but i did not want the strip to show and i did not want to drill into the plastic. if i put in the carpet closer to the boot hatch then the leds would be facing up and i dont think that would be very effective.. plus im just going for the design and originality.. which i think i have accomplished.. you guys are awesome thanks for lookin
