bonnet/boot Mini stripes question??

My stripes arrived, ordered from mightstripes.com. The stripes are on a backing material but they have no clear plastic covering the stripes; has anyone worked with stripes such as these? Is it normal for there to be no clear plastic covering?

Are you 100% positive that there is no backing material?
If there isn't I would be extra careful in applying them to your MINI.
The stripes that I received from Aestheticreations.net had a semi-transparent film on top.
Without that layer it would be very difficult to apply without scratching the surface layer.

If there is a semi-transparent film on top it is the exact same size as the stripes and I can't see it. I will cover my squeegee with a cloth when applying to be extra careful. Anybody got any other recommendations? This is my first time applying stripes.

Well based on their instructions there must not be an outer film to remove, because its not mentioned in the instructions.
I have only done dry applications so I guess with the wet method an outer layer is not required.
Here's their instructions: MINI Cooper Bonnet and Boot Stripes (Wet Application)

Good luck and remember to take your time and don't rush it.

Yeah I saw that BUT the instructions (see attached file below) that came with the stripes reference a "pre-mask"; last time I use mightystripes, they aren't making his easy for a newbie. lol

Stripe installation progress

Well, I installed the bonnet stripes and they look great if I must say so myself.
The lack of transfer tape made no difference, hopefully the boot and bumper stripes go as well. When I finish I will post pics for NAM critique.

I used string (taped to Mini) to divide the car in half from front to back using the antenna and "Mini" emblems as reference points and then I measured and marked points with a grease pencil. Really glad I did it myself, saved about $250.00. The guy that did my tint job wanted 350.00 to do the stripes. I'll post pics tomorrow.

DIY Stripe PICS

Well these were the first (and only) stripes I've ever installed, wasn't as difficult as I expected, saved a wad of cash and got that DIY feeling. Check it out:

Now that looks sharp! You did a great job on the stripes.
Only thing left to do is get rid of that nasty advertisment for Moritz on the boot.
Unless of course they are helping you with your monthly payment.

I have strongly considered removing the Moritz stuff (plate bracket as well). You know that's not a paid endorsement!
And thanks for the Kudos

Nothing against Moritz, I actually like the Youtube video they have of a MINI just like mine.
The only bad thing is that the longer the decal is on there the harder it gets to remove the glue
that it leaves behind and in some cases the paint may fade at a different rate leaving a shadow.

Came out great! Do they have wider ones available? I just stripped my stock stripes off and I'm rolling naked for a bit. I kinda like the blank canvas at the moment.

Yes they have wider stripes and they also do custom orders; so it's what ever you like. Check out:

mightystripes.com or http://www.aestheticreations.net/index.htm

and thx for the kudos
