Interior/Exterior blacked out a couple things today
i just have the normal scoop. you know im not into performance
that looks great
did you remove the whole thing to paint that? i was thinking about painting JUST the tips, i see you painted the whole pipe.
what paint? i was looking at getting a can of the Dupli Color Engine Enamel. i was told to get the 1200 degree stuff, but my local autozone only has the 500 degree.
that should work though.

Gnatster did it to his car when he had the louvers custom installed on his hood. Here's the thread:

PimpedOut97X you probably could answer that. You said you were gonna do it to your car in PGT's marketplace thread when he was selling a pair of satin black headlight rings. Maybe you have some input as to how you did it. Spade, check this out for a few sweet pics of the black finished on the car. I asked PGT in the thread if he knew where I could buy them cuz I would love to do that to my car, but he never responded and I didn't try to PM him either. IMHO makes the car look so much meaner (if that's a word????)

makes it look 100000x better, looks tinted too, when there's actually no tint on the outer lens of the headlight, not affecting your light output.
actually, a joey mod is when you disassemble the headlight and paint the inner housing. painting the rings is just painting the rings...
for first gen cars like ours, take the light out, it makes it easier to work with and it's straight forward. 3 bolts on each light and tubes if you have xenons with washers.
start at the bottom and carefully pry the 3 tabs. i say carefully because they are easy to break. there is sticky foam tape also holding the rings in place. once the clips at the bottom are free you can wiggle/slide the rings upward and off.
painting: 1) scuff em. 2) primer (i used etching primer, cuts into metals. although these arent metal, theyre plastic. still worked) 3) paint.

yeah I wasn't talking about the Joey mod i was talking about the headlight rings like I said in my post. PGT was selling a pair of satin black headlamp rings in the marketplace, not the joey mod (painting the inside of the headlamp housing). Aesthetic Creations used to sell carbon fiber headlamp rings but apparently there was some falling out with the vendor who was supplying them with the CF.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!! !!!!!!

i like them on some cars, but i think just black would look best on your car, since its silver (i think the yellow will stand out)
well if i blackout everything then i don't think it'd be too bad. right? i don't know. i can always return them
dyed some more things today.
wanted to cover these in suede, but it came down to buying $27/yard suede, and having my upholstery guy cover them (lots of stiching, due to the shape) vs. a can of dye for $9, so i dyed them.
the piece next to it is primered (even with the primer it looked like it did before i primed it anyways)

the flash makes it look shinier than it really is

painted.
