I have to disagree with you. Being that you have never seen my setup in person I can understand why you would think that. Actually, my setup is brighter and has a much nicer color than a 3000K setup. I have compared to many friends who have 3000K kits in their cars and it's pretty much agreed that my fogs blow there's out of the water.

am i reading this right? you put a 5000k hid setup into your foglights and then tinted the lens yellow?

The point of fog lights isn't to be the brightest. When they're too bright, they don't function as intended.

Yellow is good because it helps visibility in inclimate weather. Producing a 5000k color temp and then putting it through a yellow lens is seriously cutting down on your light output.

Not to mention the fact that if you actually put a 5000k hid kit in your fogs you're blinding everyone on the road.

When they're too bright, they don't function as intended? Am I reading that right? Brightness is not inversely related to visibility. Brightness along with proper aiming can give you amazing results. Since you've never seen my setup in person I can see why you think that way. BTW, I'm an ASE certified master technician & new york state certified safety and emissions inspector. Making sure lights don't blind anyone on the road is something I know about.

okay, well that's good and all, but if you put hid's into a halogen housing, you're going to have issues with the beam pattern glaring into oncoming drivers eyes, unless you did additional modifications.

also, I've had experience with fog lights that are too bright reducing visibility, yes, reducing. too bright and they start illuminating the fog more then the road. If you don't have much fog in your area, i guess that wont matter.

just throwing it out there.

Nokya H8's installed

I just recieved my yellow fog lamps in the mail. Purchased for $24.99 with free delivery. (thanks to Wolfee for the eBay tip) I got them out of the mail box went straight to the garage turned the wheel and installed them both ASAP. I'll attach pictures later when it gets darker out.

This is my first Mod! I have the super shorty antenna on its way as well.

I guess you could call all the Carbon Fiber parts mods as well but I had that on from the start from the dealership.

Nokya H8's installed

Here is a picture with the Nokya H8's installed. Not the best picture in the daytime but oh well.

I have also added a picture of the Alta Super Shorty that ALTA says fits on the R57's but if you look at the picture it is far from a good fit other than the right screw thread?!

Over the weekend while doing my grille swap I installed Hella Yellow Star bulbs into the OEM driving lights. I do a lot of back road driving, which is why I have the driving lights in the first place, and I thought adding the yellow bulbs would help out in in-climate weather. I'm pretty happy with the bulbs so far, although we haven't gotten any bad weather since I've installed them, but with the Michigan winter right around the corner I don't think I'll have to wait all that long.

Based on dry weather testing, the yellow balances out the blue a bit from the HID headlamps and gives more contrast to things on the road. Doing this really makes me want to upgrade my standard fog lights as well to a yellow bulb, although the only ones I found worth their salt are the PIAA Plasma Ion Yellow bulbs and I'm not really prepared to drop $70 on some lights.

If someone has a better suggestion I'd love to hear it, I've had Nokya's in the past as a fog light application and they burned out prematurely. Maybe their quality has gotten better though, I'm not really sure.

After going through the winter again with HID's and white fog lights I finally decided to order a pair of yellow one so I can see what I'm actually doing in inclimate weather. I got Halo Solaris Yellow H8 bulbs off of Amazon for $20, which isn't too bad. I thought about PIAA's but their life is pretty short and they are $80. If $20 crap out I'll be slightly more ok with it.

Before:

After:

I'm pretty happy with the colour of them, they are not highlighter yellow but rather goldish yellow which is what I wanted.

I'll do night shots when it actually becomes night out.

So I got some night shots, I'm not really sure how to take these to give off an accurate representation of the light output unfortunately. This gives you an idea of the colour and what not though. And yes my driver side head lamp needs to be adjusted.

I like that pic with the skewed headlamp! Kind of gives it a unique art appeal.

pics of my nokya yellow fog, stock wattage

Not as yellow as i wanted (i wanted the lexus look) nor as bright as they were in my e46 bmw, im guessing because of the difference on wattage, but brighter than stock and there is more road path covered by the light

I just installed my Nokya fog lights and I wanted a deeper yellow so I also threw on a set of lamin-x fog 4" light films. FYI the film is a pain to install on a dome shape. Even using a heat gun, I am still fixing the edges. I might just have to buy another pair of lamin-x and take off the fogs. There is just not enough room to work them on. But I am happy with the yellow it gives. Hopefully get some pics soon.
