I hear you you jessitron. i'm in san diego too.. and i haven't seen many unique minis.

i actually have an astro black with checkered roof and bonnet stripes . haven't gotten the checkered mirror caps yet... i've gotten calls from family/friends saying that they know where i've been because they see CHUBS in parking lots.

What have folks paid for installation on checkered flag door handles? One poster on https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=141987 said a dealer quoted $600 per handle.

Thanks.

I also brought the checkerboard to my scooter!

Well the scooter is fabulous but, don't you need a mirror??

We got the stripes for safety reasons. With the MINI being so small, we wanted to be sure people see us.

Were you suggesting that 'dork' and checkered side mirrors are connected in some way? I see them as entirely independent.

I never got an actual quote, but one of our dealer's mechanics is in our local club. I spoke with him and he says it's about a 5.5 hr job for both sides. I was going to do it on one of our mod days with his assistance until we figured out that with comfort access, I can't get the handles. Still $600/ handle seems about double what it should be.

I like checkers, but I can think of lots of things I'd do with $1.2k for my MINI besides handles.

Why don't we form a group called Checkerboard Brotherhood? Or perhaps Checkerboard MINIverse ...

I did get a pretty accurate quote, (dealer said he would need to ask to be 100% sure) 700-800$ for the total job(CDN$). I was so disappointed.

I wanted the door handles, and the illuminated checkered bevels around the shift **** base and cupholders, but that was another 700-800$ job. *sigh* maybe one day.

So for now I settled for the checkerboard mirror caps. (all three of them)

Just still waiting to see them though

I love the checkerboard flag

I stumbled on this thread and have to say that it was great to see all the checkerboard lovers out there! I am contemplating getting some checkerboard graphics or accessories for my MINI for Christmas. My 5 year old loves them, and so do I, but I wonder sometimes if the graphics would be too over the top since the Chili Red and black bonnet stripes are pretty eye-catching anyway . . . Decisions, decisions!

I got the rearview mirror, that's it, had to wrestle it in the deal as a freebie, I refused to sign the order until they gave it to me Also got the new checkered interior (it's standard, but I liked it better than anything else!) and checkered cloth seats.

a few checkerboard accessories on their way

Well, I am easing into the checkerboard a little at a time. I am anxiously waiting for my rearview mirror, license plate cover, and valve stem caps to arrive---all in checkerboard! And, I got some antenna ***** for the holidays from happyballs.com (terrible name, I know), so that should be good until x-mas.

Why do we love to personalize our MINIs so much???? I feel like a dork, but at least I am a happy dork!

have a great day all!

My 09 MY/B Clubman has checkered side mirrors, inside mirror, sunroof [liked the sizing of that better than the whole roof] and dashboard. In the almost 2 years I've had it, only 1 person, other than my wife, has thought it looked like a taxi. What do I care, I love it.

I don't have checkerboard side mirrors, but I do have a checkerboard rearview mirror, floor mats, and dash panels! Check out my gallery if you like

How is it that I have never came across this thread before?
We also have the checkerboard rear view mirrors! We love them. They were the 1st thing we changed when we got our 06' MCS in July 2010.

I went to a Mini owners gathering at the Scottsdale dealership before I bought mine in 2007. Of course almost all the cars were R53's. And there was a whole lotta checker stuff going on there, trust me. Somehow I get the impression that the checkered craze started to die off a little with the R56 model, but maybe not. I'm not into it myself, but it looks good on some cars.
