Front Grill Install MC

I currently have a MC stock and was thinking about doing my first mod by switching out my front grill to the black honeycomb onehttp://www.minspeed.net/R56CGK.htm(this one). I have been looking all over the boards to try to find pictures showing me how to remove my grill but only found it for MCS. So if someone could pleaseeeeee help me that would be super!! Thanks in advance!

Also where is the cheapest place to get this grill....minispeed...outmotoring.... whoever else sells them?

Dory,

I just did this yesterday on my 08 MC (Non-S). I too looked around the forums and could not find anything on this, but you are in luck. Its very simple. I purchased my black grill from outmotoring.com. It did not have the black surrounds because I have yet to decide if I want to wrap the chrome surrounds in black or body color. It was around $55 I believe..pretty good.

I'll post pictures in just a few. Its very simple and it really changes the look of the car. Whats your color combo?

I have kind of figured out how to get that sucker off but go ahead and post pictures anywho. Cause like in school if you have a question you are not the only one who doesnt know!

Dory is oxygen blue and white. I still need to order my grill but I think it was look good on her. I am also thinking of getting rid of that chrome belt line also.

I agree with the picture posting anyways, i'd rather see detailed pictures than read a 1000 lines of complicated directions. Outmotoring was really quick, though they are at the dragon right now, so it may take slightly longer. I believe I ordered mine on Monday, had it by Friday. Beltline is pretty simple to do, just give yourself an hour or so to do it. More of having patience than anything. I'm all for blacking out the beltline.

You going to get rid of the chrome around the grill or leave that? I'll get the pics up soon...

Sorry Sorry Sorry. I know I said pics would be up soon but got called up to DC for the week. If I can get a few moments, I'll post a couple of "before' and 'after shots' but the process pics are on the camera still. My appologies.

Basically the process is this:

1.) Remove the four 'pins' that hold the stock grill to the metal frame that houses the radiator.

2.) Wiggle original grill out of holding position by tipping the top towards you and slidding it back and forth slightly.

3.) Remove chrome bottom (if you are not replacing it with a blacked out replacement) by pressing the tab on each end. Piece slips out

4.) Reverse #3, 4, and 5. Basically that is it.

I appologize, and will complete this when I get back.

There was a great review of how to do this over in the Cooper forum. I wish I would have had more time, but got called out.

Best post is here, plus good examples within the post
