Oh like this, huh?

I had them too and really didn't care much for them. Painting the chrome S grills is great cause it's already glossy and smooth. And it's really very simple. That would be pretty sweet---Black and Royal Grey!

re: wheels
Thanks!! I love them too!!

BTW... Your wheels are amazing...

Ok here's the latest mod. It's a mobile DVD (1/2 DIN) that's I've integrated into my MINI. Unlike most people that do DVD installs however this is purely for my son on road trips. This DVD player plays everything.

The other mod that I'm working on is the Parrot CK3000 Evolution kit which isn't loud enough in my noisy MINI. I'm modifying this kit to actually be usable by those with aftermarket exhausts, etc... I've got separate thread for this.

Yep... that's a very clean install. Nice way to add the component without destroying the look of the center stack!

Thanks guys. Here's another view of it. I didn't post it originally because I forgot to remove some extra RCA cables from the shot. It's nice because the cig lighter is still fully accessible, although I've got a 5 port cig splitter attached to it that sits on my Euro shelf..most everything is now hardwired into the MINI.

Not a lot of details..it completes my post 95
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...2&postcount=95

I purchased this player
http://www.carelectronicsworld.com/i...OD&ProdID=1703

But after ordering was told it was discontinued and replaced with a different unit which fortunately turned out to be black.

Most of the work involved routing the cables and pulling panels. We mounted the infrared audio transmitter in the sunroof surround. The power and ground for that, the LCD headrest monitor, and the DVD player were all tied into the head unit harness. Audio cables travel down behind the A pillar cover down under the carpet. I had to pull the passenger seat to do this. Also the headrest audio/video/power were pulled at the same time to the center gear shift console alongside the existing bundles.

Currently the DVD is friction fit--as it didn't come with any mounting hardware, but I'll be fabricating some brackets to offer better support from underneath, although it doesn't really need it.

I've had to relocate my Scan Gauge II which was in that location..I've got a new home for that--it will be mounted on the left hand side of the steering wheel using another bracket I'm fabricating. I'll document that once I get it in place.

So I've got audio from the DVD player going up the sunroof to the audio transmitter, and video going to the headrest LCD monitor.

Are you talking about this?

You can remove the parts but you'll have to glue them back and I didn't want to do that. They have tabs that go through the door and the tabs are melted.

It was much easier to just mask them and paint them. We just lightly scuffed them before shooting them, not a lot of prep was needed. Afterwards, just light sanding and polishing as usual.

It's a good question--I can't get my head in there to look, so it's never bothered me. I certainly don't notice it from day to day--looks perfect to me and everyone that sees it. I'll have to take a closer look, but just to bring up the process pix from the previous posts.
