what are these pods and gauges

I have a tiny picture from the mini website:

What gauge pod is it? And what gauges are these?

That's not a R56. It's a previous years, which had factory gauge pod options available. There are no factory ones for the 2nd gen cars.

What gauges were these? Boost? EGT?
Any chance for the retrofit in R56?

I'm looking for OEM as well. I heard a rumor MINI is working on them, and they will be out in Spring

That would be a nice rumor if true. I'll wait patiently with the Scanguage II in the meantime.

Question is, will these work in a R56? The gauges that come with that kit are Volt and Boost and they say Cooper S on them. They would be sweet if they worked with the R56. Anybody know?

I think both would work just fine. Volt is easy to retrofit. Boost might be more difficult depending on whether it is mechanical or electric ones. And whether it feeds the data directly from the separate boost sensor installed in the intake manifold or from the ECU/ECM (whatever the engine control module abbreviation BMW uses).

But I am slightly disappointed with the fact that it is volt gauge not the EGT or oil temp. one...

Any more details about this option? What model years it was installed? What trim option?

Hey maloosheck,

Are you going to buy this kit? I'd really like to know if it will work with the R56. I'd rather have the water temp gauge instead of the volt gauge but it's OEM and it matches perfect.

I think so. I need to inspect the steering column covers to make sure it will fit R56 and I need to find the online store that sales mini price at some reasonable discount. Any suggestions?

You got to pay to play
It appears to be quite chap in fact, assuming the MSRP of this kit is $325... I wish these guys have all mini spare parts at such a discount.

But they dont look like R56 compatible, they are good for the ver1 new mini but not for the R56 ones! I want my gauges to match perfectly with the R56 gauge style! So i will wait no matter what... i think!

Here's a better picture...they look pretty exact to me. I just need to know if the kit will work with the R56.

I don't THINK that will work on the R56.

Plus what in the He** is the realistic benefit of a voltage gauge in this day and age? I mean seriously?

The R56 SCREAMS for a water temp and boost for 100%.

Sorry for the rant!

Thanks folks!

Plus, that boost gauge only goes up to 17. I already hit 15 with just my CAI/ Inlet hose.

Exactly what I was thinking. I can get volt ouputs from an aftermarket stereo. Anyway why would you need it so often that it takes off prime real state. I would rather have an A/F gauge.

Thanks, I can finally see they were made by Stewart Warner. I am going to find out if they plan to develop any other Cooper S gauges.

i actually like the gauges that Alta offers, but if you're looking for a gauge with silver face to match the stock, have a look at the Stewart Warner gauges.
The "competition series" would seem to be a nice match.
