Interior/Exterior side repeaters
There are a lot of different spray paints out there & Krylon is one of the "cheaper" ones. Brands like Belton or Montanna are the best but few people outside of the graffiti art world have heard of them.
The trick to getting Krylon to work relatively well is to shake the can like an aupair shakes a baby. You have to shake the can vigoriously for at least 3 minutes. A lot of times Krylon runs because of a bad mix from the factory. Shaking it really well can help combat it.

I didn't like the quality of the OEM smoked lenses, so I used a can of tail light blackout spray on the repeater lenses - looks better IMHO than the OEM smoked ones, because they're not clear but retain the translucency of the white lens. Two light coats gave a good darkening effect without making the repeater too dark, but I did a third coat for a blacker non-illuminated look.
Just FYI...
Just FYI...
THIS is what I used... No prep needed, besides cleaning the lens with alcohol to remove all dirt. Just set the lenses in a piece of cardboard, to hold them and catch overspray, and don't put on too thick a coating - the product is quite thin and will run down if put on too thick. Use light coats. if you end up with a slightly "pebbled" coating, a bit of fine-grade polishing product (Scratch-X or Prima Swirl) will restore it to a mirror gloss sheen. Works on tail lights too (although I think using the Lamin-X film there is safer and is removable as well if you change your mind.).
So you spray the paint on the outside of the lens right? And do you guys think that adding a primary for plastics for the first coat and then a few layers of clear coat might help with the chipping?
