I too like the look of Carbon Fiber.

I am trying to get the products that these folks sell. As yet they do not have the R-56 gauge faces but they are working on it.

At least they speak English and reply in a prompt courteous manner

On zero-ing out that needle, that sounds like a bit of an issue. The distance that it falls after the fact, try installing the needle that much further ahead (if that makes sense) and maybe it may fall back into alignment. Otherwise, I have no suggestions for you on that one. I know that sometimes vinyl gets cut enough to slip it over the needle withotu having to remove it........... not sure about in this case.
Sorry to open up an old thread but I find it hard to believe this can be done. I've searched alot of forums and threads.

I gave up trying to do this and if I want black gauges I will have MINI install the JCW Speedo and tach at a terrible cost!

Ok, I stopped after removing speedo bezel with vent cover and was able to use different screw drivers and finger to get to the tabs holding the clear lens and black ring under that. I found no need to go any further. Still a bit of work, especially getting those top torx back in that are accessed thru the top vent. And people say the tach is hard to remove the needle and the speedo was easy. On my 2013 it was opposite, tach came off easier, speedo I was sure something was going to break.
I'm quite pleased with the look. I bought mine on ebay from a guy who thought they were mini mania, but I think they are OM . His pictures and description said black but when I got them they looked dark grey and after installed I'm pretty sure they are grey which is what I wanted anyway.
