<MINI> Do you have any more photos? Anything looking straight on from the front? I am looking to do the same thing but paint the lamp shroud red and would like a basis for a photoshop.

I did take some straight on, but the glare was so bad that it blurred everything. Sorry.

I am rather interested in this mod, but has anybody experienced issues regarding moisture (from ambient air) being captured inside the housing while resealing? It would become noticeable when the vapors condense inside. This is my only fear regarding this mod, since I'm sure the headlamps are sealed inside the housing at the factory, using either a humidity chamber or vacuum chamber.

Cheers.

see the thing is its not really the first time the unit feels fresh air with this mod...if you open the back access door to access the light (say if you were changing the bulb) then the entire unit gets that same outside air

to the above statement. I didn't realize that GIANT hole was there, but now I know why that round disc is in the wheel well.

Mine has also been in the rain with no issues. If you're worried about the seal when put back together, just apply some silicone sealant around edge.

Wondering if I should Joey-mod this little guy... I thought I saw a super-hooked up Chili Red with halogens joey modded, but I can't find her anymore.

There are quite a few threads dedicated to joey modding the R53 in the 1st Gen forums.

a pain in the ***!!!!

Its painting the chrome inside the headlights a different color. it involves alot of work and placing your lights in the oven. If you have an 02-05 r53 its alot...alot of work. new MCS cars are alot easier due to the different type of glue mini used later.

Actually don't let ^^^^^ fool you...this is really one of the easiest, and most pleasing, mods

Yes if you have an 06 and under, it will be a little more work, but if you have an 07 and up, it will be the easiest, especially if you have a heat gun

The real difficulty of the mod is getting past your fears of ruining the headlights. Once you get past that, it's so easy and goes extremely smooth.

If you have any questions, or need more directions just let me know.

I am doing it this weekend on my R56 halogens. Satin black with the small metal lamp shield in red.
