Lots of "exterior" changes to my 07 MCS...

Here's a quick pic I just snapped... I'm, of course, not done with mods by a long-shot.

Looking great! I really go for the subtle-yet-tough look, too. A sleeper of sorts.

Really digging the wheels, are they anthracite? What about the tires, 215/35/18's? Also what springs are you lowered on?

Sorry for all the questions. I'll be putting 18" Enkei's on my MINI along with a set of lowering springs next month, and it's extremely hard to find pics of PW/B MINI's with off-black wheels.
THANKS

NEXO calls them "gun metal." Yes, 215/35/18. H&R springs.

I thought about going with black wheels but then looked around and realized soooo many people go with black. I want my MINI (like others) to be unique and these gun metal wheels were a nice alternative to black or silver wheels.

Looks good Very nice stance for an r56.

What suspension are you on? If they're coilovers, how much room is left to go lower if someone was so inclined?

They're coilovers. There is definitely some room to slam the car down even further if someone wanted to. There's almost exactly 1 inch of clearance left (with no one in the car).

Which coilovers are they? Any measurement on how much threading is left to go lower (even just an estimate)?

H&Rs. I didn't install them myself, so I'm not exactly sure what's left.

Awesome, I always worried that gunmetal wheels wouldn't look so hot on a PW/B MINI. You've proved those concerns were most definitely unwarranted. The low profile tires look great with your H&R coilovers. I'll only be purchasing the H&R springs though, so I wonder how your ride height compares to the ~1.4" drop I'll get.

I also considered black wheels (with the machined lip) for awhile. As a matter of fact I was pretty much set on them. However my issue was that I couldn't find a set that I truly like and is lightweight. Straight silver was out from the beginning as I prefer a more unconventional color. Decided on 'hyper black' which is like gunmetal but a lighter shade. Hopefully it'll tie in well with my whole theme.

re: Your Mini

Nice looking car.

I'm waiting for my PW/B MCS to arrive hopefully by mid January and have also ordered a Gun Metal wheels. Thanks for confirming that the Gun Metal looks nice on the PW/B.

These are the wheels I ordered. Have to wait till February for them to arrive.

Nice choice! Looks like you had the same problem as me. Found various pictures of the wheels you wanted, just not on PW/B - frustrating. Both your and JohnTurbo's wheels are much darker than the ones I'm considering. Hence my initial reservation...

Nice Wheels!

Thos are (will be) sharp MINIs.

Thinking about gun metal or anthracite color for my DS/B on order.

Can I ask what your respective wheels (and rubber) weigh and the price points? Had not heard of NEXOs before.

I love the color, but mostly want to reduce weight and move to 205s for stickier grip and quicker handling car.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks! Definitely go for either gun metal or anthracite with your exterior, I find the combination to be striking. Check out Mach V Dan's DS/B MINI with Rota RB's. SAHWEET!

The weight of the wheels I posted are 18.9lbs. Pretty good, especially compared to OEM, but you can definitely go lighter. My thing is I really want mesh wheels, which are inherently heavier, and don't wanna spend over $250 per (these are $239).

If you're budget is higher, 18" OZ Ultraleggera's ($295) weigh 17lbs. They're only 7" wide, compared to 7.5" for the Enkei's, so that saves weight in itself. Very popular wheel on the MINI. Not sure how much lighter you can get than that in the 18" range. For truly lightweight wheels you'll need to step down to 16's or 17's. Can get as low as 12 lbs per.

For tires, right now I'm looking at a set of 215/35/18 Falken Ziex Ze 912's. They're a very highly rated all-season (requirement for me) tire for a damn good price - $88 per. Problem is they weight a ton - 22.7 lbs. So that may change... Best of luck on your decision and your MINI's arrival!

Msteadman: we are in very similar situations. I drive a PW/B MCS and want mesh wheels, except my cost issue is slightly different. I really wanted the RPM2's (my first choice, second to BBS obviously) but I just can't really afford $1000 for a set of wheels. I'm now considering the Privat Netz or the ASA AR2, but neither of them are quite as good looking as the RPM2 in my opinion.

All of 3 days later and I just saw your post!

Are you dead set on 18" wheels or would you consider 17" as well? I ask because the Rpm2's are 'only' $194 per (so $776 for the set) from Edgeracing.com in 17x7". I'm actually kinda tempted to go for that size myself... I really shouldn't be spending a grand on wheels either (insane to think of the amount of people here on NAM who spend that on just two wheels! But I'm sure my college budget is quite different from theirs ).

By going for the 17's you save $180 right off the bat, they're lighter, tires are significantly cheaper ($63 per instead of $88 per for the 912's - making my savings about 300 bucks once shipping is factored in), the ride is much better and there's less of a risk that you'll get any rubbing. Also with the MINI being so small, 17" wheels, especially in combination with lowering springs, look pretty big anyway. That said I just love the looks of 18's, so it's a hard decision! :impatient

At least your backups are both extremely nice wheels. If you look at my post here, you'll see I considered both the Netz and AR2's as well. If you want my opinion at all, I'd go with the Netz. Beautiful wheel, very reputable brand, 4 lbs lighter than the AR2 and for only $60 more for the set. The Netz also seem to be a more unique wheels and seem to have a larger lip - two factors that appeal to me personally but you may not be so concerned with.

Best of luck on your decision!

Yeah, I actually was planning on getting 17", not 18" (for money reasons). I guess maybe the price I quoted was closer to 18" price, but yeah, I'm still gonna consider all of the wheels. Truth be told, I'll probably have to wait until my birthday anyway, which is beginning of February. So I'll just keep my eye out for killer deals and when the time comes, if one is cheaper than the other, I'll probably go with that one. Thanks for the input and good luck with your wheel hunt.
