Aftermarket seats.

I recently put Recaro SRD's in my car and am now wondering if I went about it the correct way. Should I have used special bolts, and would it be a good idea to use loctite, and what color if I do. My final question is, does Recaro make their own brackets for install? The ones I got were made by the place I bought the seats, and the fit is not as good as I would expect? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Motoring,
Kyle

P.S.- Pictures to come soon.

what brackets? I used Speedware and had to open up the slots a bit. Loctite Blue is what you want.

My Wedge bracket was a perfect fit with floor holes and seat belt mount. I used nylon lock nuts where possible otherwise plenty o' Loctite blue.

They were from speedware. The problem was with the seatbelt buckle mount. If I want to slide my seats past that mount it grinds on the plastic of my seat adjuster. I would really like something that didn't get in the way like they do. All the other holes fit well, except I had to get smaller bolts to go into the car because there was no room to fit factory sized bolt.

ahh...my seats had threaded inserts for the seatbelts. I reveresed L/R on the speedware brackets so the tabs wouldn't interfere. the clearances are really too tight to use the tabs anyways

I need to take the seats out to put loctite in, so maybe I'll see if there is anything I can do to get clearance. I'll alos see if speedware has any ideas to make it work more smooth. Thanks for the info.

you might want to hold off on the loctite until you get it the way you want it. Then when its fixed you get to take it out again to put the loctite in, hahah, but its better than loctiting it, then deciding you want to change it again.

Did your car have side air bags to contend with? If so, what did you do to get around the dash light or possibly making the entire air bag system inoperative? I am considering Recaro seats but need to work out the air bag delima first.

I used a resistor network at first but then went to the dealer and had them deprogram the system for the seat mounted bags. They charged me $125 to do it (even though it takes maybe 5-10 minutes) and I'll have to do the same again if/when I put the stock set back in.

For now I have the bag light on in the cluster. It's a little annoying, but thats all. I don't think it affects the rest of the air bags though. Does anyone know if it does or doesn't for sure. That could be bad.

I asked the same thing. The system will fire all available bags in event of an accident. the light is to tell you there's an issue, but won't shut things off if you need them.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like the dealer is the way to go. It's a few bucks but you will not have the trouble light burning all of the time.

Thanks again.
