Question about Factory Exhaust Tips...

The exhaust tips you can get from MINI, the all chrome, meatier looking ones from the accessories page on the MINI Configurator wont fit on my 07 MCS!? It's weird, I couldn't figure out why MINI would do that. When I take off the stock tips, instead of it just being a single pipe coming of the muffler, the pipe has a welded lip on the bottom. Anyone else encounter this problem? My MA was kind enough to give me his and I really want to use them! Thanks!

I do believe there are distinctly different versions for the earlier R53 and the new R56. There is a set screw under the tips that catch on that lip.

I actually just found out that late build 07 mcs's have a different pipe setup with a lip to prevent them from sliding and the exhaust tips he was going to give me were from his march built 07. Oh well, I guess I'll have to deal.

I just bought mu 08 MCS two weeks ago and this weekend received the sport exhaust tips from outmotoring.com. I am having the same problem there is an allen wrench screw set lip that will not permit the sport exhaust to simply changed out with the stock tips. I contacted both outmotoring and mossmini and no one even with tech experience could tell me what to do. If they made a sleeve that would fit inside the sport tip then it could slide inside the exhaust tube like the stock tips. Not even my Mini dealer was aware of this problem. Anyone have any suggestions other than returning the tips?
