Interior/Exterior OEM Exhaust tip upgrades
OEM Exhaust tip upgrades
What are your feelings on these, for those of you who have them or have seen them? I can't seem to find any really good pictures aside from closeups. It almost looks as though they protrude a bit from the rear bumper though. I was going to get the Alta or JCW, but I really like the pitch of the stock exhaust and would rather keep the $600 difference or so for use on other things.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

We installed a pair at my mod party a few weeks back... I did the flat back internal paint in them, which helps... still, I'm not a huge fan - they're definitely bigger, but they're nowhere near as cool/pretty as the JCW tips (or invidia tips)...
They do stick out farther than the beer cans, but still look better IMHO.
Paint the inside black like BlimeyCabrio said.

Oh and I got mine here on NAM. They pop up from time to time.

I've got them as well. They really look nicer than the stock tips. Check out my gallery if you want to see pics

Thanks for all of the pics! Those really helped. They look waaaay better. FreakMonkeyDogBoy, your Astro Black S looks very similar to mine with the R90s on it. Where did you get the rear bumper mesh? I was looking to do something similar.
I don't have many as I am at work right now but i'll post what i have.

Thanks for the compliments. I used high temp ceramic header paint. You can get it at any auto parts store. simply spray all at once... and put it in the oven @ 250 degrees for 2 hours and you are g2g. Hasn't chipped or anything.

I think that the length of the tips lend better to the Aero kit for sure after seeing those pics. Otherwise they extend a bit too much. I'm still going to go get them today from the dealership
if you have an angle grinder you could easily fix that. What stops the tips from slipping on further is the arch of the exhaust into the muffler. The pipes go up into the muffler a bit. IF you were to grind off a little channel in the tops of the tops they could slip on another 1/4-1/2 an inch further. You wouldn't see the ground away part either.
Don't overtighten!
To anyone getting a set of these tips, just be careful to not over tighten the set screw! One of the tips came loose on me and as I retightened, I stripped the threads so the set screw just kept spinning. I suggest using Locktite or something comparable so this doesn't happen to you!
Or, order over the Internet from Morristown Mini for a 20% savings over the normal dealer cost. Or, tell your dealer to match their price, which is $79.20. I understand the JCW tips can also be special ordered and the list cost is $1 more than the sport tips.
Even though it's embarrassing to admit, I'm having one heck of a time getting the screws loose on the original tips to swap them out. I have the right size allen wrench, but they will just not come loose easily at all. I know this should be a 10 second install.
Any tips? (No pun intended)

Speaking of ceramic coated exhaust tips, take a look at Michael's (namwob) https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ramic_tips.jpg

Are you saying Morristown Mini lists the JCW tips (special order) for $80? I've been trying to find a pair of JCW tips...
No, they don't list them at all, but I have found over time that there are other parts that are not listed on their Internet site. They list the sport tips though for $79.20 (which are $99 list price), so I asked their parts department if they sold the JCW tips. I was told they do sell themn as a stand-alone from the exhuast and that their "list price" is $100 (not an Internet price). The parts department and Internet department are actually separate functions and their Internet department is closed on Saturday when I called them. The Internet discount though is 20%, so I believe they ought to sell them for $80. I sent their Internet department an e-mail to ask about it, so I'll know later today, I hope.
