R56 Warning Triangle Mounts

As my R56 MINI makes its way through the production process, I would like to prepare for my first mod--namely, mounting the warning triangle on the boot lid.

On the R53, the triangle was mounted on the underside of the boot cover, but now it appears as though it's mounted on the lid--thus, the brackets are different. I recall that the procurement of the R53 mounts was troublesome, to say the least.

Has anyone tried to obtain the parts, and if so, where did you find them?

I will probably look to Classic first.

Here is the diagram illustrating the mounts.

I have checked two dealerships (including Classic) and no joy so far.

The search continues.

I think you are misinterpeting the "WARNING TRIANGLE" feature. It is the law in Europe that you carry warning triangles in the car in case of breakdown. US law does not require them. So you will not be able to order them from Mini USA. You could maybe order them from some UK parts place. The mountings that you refer to are inside the trunk lid and are for the storage bracket that holds the triangle until use.

djam43, thanks for the feedback. I know that the warning triangle is not mandatory here in the States and that the dealers don't stock those parts. On my R53, however, I was able to get the necessary parts. I am more interested in having the parts for their unique qualities here in the States, rather than any legal concern.

That'd be great--Thanks! Coincidently, I also sent you an e-mail yesterday about this...you must be a mind reader.

How bout some pictures of it? How much space into the boot does it stick?

Seems like a good safety feature to have.

I put the triangle in my R53 because here in the US, it's unique and a bit kitchy. Once I take delivery of my new MINI I plan to install the triangle, and I will take some pictures for all to behold. Until then, check out my first post. I snagged that picture from MINI2, I think.

I wonder how well it is mounted. Looks like something else that can "rattle". With the exchange rate and shipping costs, it's a bit expensive.

I know on my R53 it never rattled...but you may be right, the new mounting may require some "modifications" to ensure it doesn't rattle. You're also right about the cost, but when has cost ever factored into MINI obsessions, right?

I finally installed the mounts and triangle with no problems. I've driven around town on some rough roads and I have yet to hear a rattle from it. Nice easy mod, just a little spendy.

GBMINI#5 already has those mounts - I wondered if that's what they were for ... I suspect it's because the car was originally delivered in Europe and then shipped back here by the previous owner. Maybe I should get a triangle to fill the space

Thanks for the update Wolfshiem! It's going on my list of "some day when I have money" items.

Congrats on getting your car also! Having ordered my Mini I really appreciate the whole process .
