Palo Uber... "The Uber Wing" Installed & Review

Gents,

A lot of people have been hating on PU on this board but I decided to give "the uber wing" a shot. I spoke with some dude name Geoff and he was super cool and gave me detailed installation instructions over the phone.

The wing arrived a few days later well packaged with detailed instructions and he threw in some goodies including some stickers etc. I pulled the wing out and did a detailed inspection of the paint/quality etc. I was VERY impressed. The wing is made of some really weird material that slowly bends as it sits in your hand... i was pretty amazed that a material that could bend and flex could still maintain a non-scratched/spider cracked finish.

Installing was a bit more difficult then i anticipated. Really, how hard could it be right? Well, the temperature in Vancouver BC is around 10-11 degrees Celsius so I had a hard time bending the wing to my rear spoiler. I lined it up as accurately as possible and taped the **** out of it to keep it from falling off. I used the heat gun for 4-5 minutes expecting it to fully mold to the spoiler but it never really did. At some point I got impatient so i pulled the tape off and applied the wing to the spoiler (carefully and methodically).

A few things about this:
1) The 3m tape is EXTREMELY STICKY. Once it's applied, that's it!
2) With a heat gun you may have 5-10 seconds to move it a few a mm or two but really once it sets it aint coming off.

There you have it. I've never bought a PU product before but I must say I'm extremely impressed. Thanks Geoff for the outstanding customer service and a top notch product. This product is the ****!

Since you are new here....i will break things down for you.

The reason people hate on this vendor:
  • -Their special tuner lugs rust within a week of installing them (on countless occasions....including the new set that customers were sent)
  • -The vendor lied to a large number of people over and over again about this rust issue
  • -The wheels they sell are actually Sportmax and Axis wheels....only with the prices marked up much higher. Cheap quality wheels.....high prices
  • -The artist they say is the most famous of our time.......is a lie
  • -The hood scoops have been reported to have fallen apart only to show that they are filled with bondo (low quality)
  • -Their special antenna's that were supposedly powdercoated began to fade on multiple occasions......they made lies about this as well.
  • -They constantly make claims that their stuff is the best performing part on the market without actually ever proving any of it.
So no....it's not that it's too expensive....It's that all of their parts are too low quality compared to the large words they use to convince new owners that they sell high quality parts. It also has to do with their lack of respect for the customer when they often lie to their customers as well as make up false accusations of blame.

Before you jump on someone.....try to do some background reading.

The 4th happy customer comment came from an old thread that was created. Regarding the above issues with PU....they claimed to have a very large number of happy customers (in the hundreds). One of the happy customers mentioned the idea that we should have a thread open for the happy customers to see who out there was happy with PU products. After making sure it was at the top of the forums for more than a week.....we only found 4 happy customers. Later, one of them dropped out because his product started to rust.....leaving 3. So calling you the 4th refers to that thread.....

Your first post had content that kept me reading...it was articulate, well-stated, and thought out. Whether or not I agree with you, or like/dislike the vendor and/or their products - I continued reading.

And then....this post.

No class.

You can strongly disagree with people, share your own experiences and opinions, and contribute meaningfully to this Forum without resorting to name calling and blatant disrespect.

can i just ask, when you said that it bent in your hands, what exactly do you mean, if you held it in the center, the ends would start to bend out flat, or does it start out straignt, and you bend it to what ever shape you need?

Just kinda strikes me as weird, was all, and wouldnt mind a little more info.

thanks

it's flexible. designed to be bent to match the contour of the spoiler, just like the $99 lip OEM lip spoiler you can buy from BMW or Audi. Width is about 38 inches, which is 2" shorter than most I can find. Seems PU had one made or was able to source one in a MINI friendly size.

PGT is referring to the common products that resemble this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-01...spagenameZWDVW

Seems that they can source various sizes as they offer then for different cars.

You can see the flexible nature here:

You can see the similarities in these pics:

The $20 ebay option(in CF):

Is 38" a for sure measurement? I found a 34" that looks like it has the exact same shaping as the PU product that may be a great alternative for people who are interested but don't have the cash.....it only costs $20 shipped
