Rear Wiper Replacement

I did a search and found info on the Valeo for the front but cannot find info on a replacement for the rear wiper. Also, I ordered the Valeo at a two for one price at Tire Rack but they did not offer a rear replacement either.
Does anyone have a success story with a high quality rear replacement?

Thanks.

I did not have any luck either, I ended up going to the dealer for a replacement :(. I rarely use the rear, so I figured the use of a nicer blade was somewhat overkill.

I am even considering the rear wiper removal.

Go to, or call, the Dealer. You can replace all of the rubber for all of $12 including the rear.

Yeah, but how many of you "deleters" have had second thoughts come winter time?
I've heard it's worth about 20 pounds in the rear end.

If only losing 20 pounds in my rear end was that easy!!

it's very easy to remove, and equally easy to put back.

during rain season, I just put mine back on.

The rear wiper is a must with any kind of rain or snow.

I went to the dealer for wipers.

I bought a cheap 18" wiper at Pepboys for <$4.00, and trimmed it down to 12". Slid right in the OEM setup.

Rear wiper rubber on my 06 just fell apart, I tried to find replacement just as everyone else with no luck. Several threads here talk about various part numbers of wiper manufacturers but I couldn't find anyone who carried them, so I went to Advance AP with the rubber only refill from my old blade. They let me open any package I wanted to find the correct profile. I purchased the Trico 47-800 Break-to-Fit refill package. This was the only profile that was even close to my original. The only bad thing is that you get two refills both of which are more than twice as long as necessary, so I got the equivalent of 4 refills, for $6.99.

You have to take your original apart and only use the rubber part from the new package, but it fits very nicely. Now to keep the other three in a nice ziplock so they don't oxidize or dry rot until I need them.

YD

I second Yo'sDad's tip. We just bought a used Mini S (2005, 14000 miles) for my wife (she named it "Flipper"). Anyway, it was in dire need of new wipers. For the front, I bought a pair of Bosch Excel+ 19-inch wiper blade assemblies. For the rears, I ran across Yo'dDad's post, and went to Advance Auto Parts this afternoon and picked up a package of Trico 47-800 refills. The reinforcing straps that came with the Tricos were a little too wide (1/8 inch), so I used those from the original blade (1/10-inch wide); the new blades slid in to the factory guides nicely with just a little force.

Thanks Yo'sDad...

Slight correction to my previous post...

No, Chip Foose has not gotten ahold of our Mini. It is not tricked out with dual rear wipers; just one wiper (I previously referred to "rears" and "blades" when talking about the rear wiper)...

Confirming that the Trico 45-280 is a great fit for the rear wiper. 06 MCS, built on 03/06

I got rid of my rear dust shelf! That's all that thing was good for, collecting dust and making rainbows on the rear window after the rain drys lol. Go to lows and get a plug! Looks wayyyy cleaner as well!

So above I see 47-800, and 45-280 listed as replacement options. Anyone know the difference (similarity??) between the two?

For $22 (shipped) at www.autopartswarehouse.com you can get an OEM assembly replacement....all of it. I was going to just replace the blade with the "break off" suggestion, but the arm is faded so I've decided to replace the entire assembly (on my '06) this time and use the break offs next time.

Thanks all!

Not sure about the differences; the Trico site (tricoproducts) doesn't list details pertaining to the 45-280. I believe the 45-280 (like the 47-800) is for an 8-mm square-claw wiper assembly. The 47-800 package I bought at Advance Auto Parts contains two lengths of approx 26-inch long blades (enough for four rear blades on a 2005 MCS).

Recommendation: Re-use the OEM blade rails (if possible) or the rails of your current installation; the rails that come with the Trico package make for a VERY tight fit.
