Anybody tried this shift ****?
like the title says. has anyone tried to use the shift ***** from flameball.com?
i'd like to try this one.

from http://www.flameball.com/Plain/PL-1.htm
i know whalen does billiard shift *****. but right now for that price im too poor.
if someone else has gotten one of these and is happy with it and can show pics of how it's on then i'll probably go with it.
seeing that it's only $30. and if not. i'll probably just save up for the whalen.
either way im saving up for it.
so anyone tried this ****? or something close that's just as cheap?
opinions and thoughts about this **** is also greatly appreciated.

Hi minjae,
I had a Flameball on my first MINI. Fit is typical of universal mounts. Never had any issue with it coming loose, or off. Finish quality is good for the price. Sorry, no pics, no longer have the car.

I got mine from THIS PLACE... only $15! Made from real pool ***** (any one you want).
One thing - the rubber boot they come with is sized to fit older cars and does not work on the fat MINI shifter rod, but I just removed the rubber adapter, squirted a dollop of silicone into the ball and then allowed it to dry on the shaft overnight. The ball was on the car just fine for well over a year before I needed to re-apply the silicone (my daughter tore it off when I was teaching her to drive stick - she had a death grip on the **** and accidentally tore it off!) - it survived all my "spirited shifting", even on the Dragon, just fine until then.
A tad more work than a Whelan ****, but for only a fraction of the price it could not be beat!

the Whalens are $100 for any ball you want, expensive, but on par for any higher quality shift **** like MOMO, etc.
I have a pool ball as well, but currently run a custom Whalen. The pool ball is nice due to the size, but my wife likes the custom Whalen, so that is in the car
...she thinks a pool ball in a car is sooooooooo 60's, haha.

Have you tried a pool ball shift ****? I would try one before buying it to see if you even like the feel and stuff. I am trying to think if anyone has one in the club. I will PM you if I find out.
I think a cue ball would be cool and different with your MINI, especially if you could get one that was used and already had the chalk marks

Good luck.

Spend the $15 on the one I linked to and try it out. If you dislike the fact that you have to use silicone to attach it, you can always get as Whalen-made one afterwards. uing the $15 one will let you experience the extra heft and size to see if you like it before shelling out the bucks for a more expensive unit, and then you can always re-sell it afterwards.
Based on the great reviews on this site for Whalen ***** (I think I have yet to read a negative one), I have often considered getting one. . . and I certainly would like to get an 8-ball for my car.
Keep in mind though, the pool ball shifters (even Whalen's) do not weigh as much as the other Whalen ***** (half as much I believe) -- so all comments you see about the improved shifting feel from the Whalen machine may or may not apply to a Whalen pool ball shifter . . . somebody correct me if this is wrong.

ive bought many shift ***** for my cars the last many years and
i found that textured/brushed finish is easiest to use in all weather.
smooth chrome/plastics get caught in the palm of your hands on
warmer days and can get annoying.

That's exactly what *I* thought as well... but the $15 jobbie works a peach, so I figured why replace it? Bragging rights? Who cares? I'm just happy I have an orange-striped "13" pool ball shifter in my car - it still gets plenty of positive comments from total strangers.
