Ok, so I know I want 35% tint for my MINI, but I have a few questions:
-In MA, 35% is the street legal limit. But can I do the front windows (excluding the windshield) or just the back?
-Is there any particular type of tint I should ask for?
-Any experience with good shops in the Boston/ North Shore area?
-How much should this cost me?

i have NEVER seen anyone pulled over, or herd them talking about getting a tix for "tinted windows".

I just had mine done, all except windscreen (of course) with 20%. Total cost was $125

 

Now you can say you have, *raising my hand*. I was pulled over and ticketed for tint and only for tint!

 

Ouch! What if it happens again? Are you gonna change/ remove your tint?


Also, does anyone have experience with Tint King in Billerica? Their website looks good. They quoted $230 for 35% all-around (minus windshield). This seem fair???

 

Ditto, years ago in Cupertino (that's CA for those not in NorCal). Cop was a ***** just bored off his *** and jealous of my ride...

 

No, I won't dare take it off for anything after seeing how much cooler the car is inside with tint. It gets way too hot inside for me.

It is a simple fix-it-ticket, $10. Just need any officer to sign it off and send it in. Anyone with a good friend or family on the dept. can take care of you. I heard Oakland charges $125, that would suck, but I never go there anyways.

I work closely enough with the police dept., I can find someone willing to write them off for me

 

some states they can't just pull you over for tint. if they are pulling you over for speeding they can test the tint then, but can't just pull you over to test the tint. i paid $200 to get mine tinted 20% all around, i got the tint that had a lifetime guaranteed to not change color (some tint will turn purple over time). i suggest pay the extra and get the non fading tint

 

all i can say for you is. JUST DO IT. i payed 185 for my excelent tint job, 18% all around [except windshield]. there are pictures if you click on my cardomain link in my sig. its a great decision. i dont even think a cop can pulll yoou over for just tint too. either way, unless a police man just found out his wife was having an affair that day, i dont think anyone cares to much, and if you still get paranoid, just keep your windows rolled down when you go by one! my 2 cents..

 

Tint King is pretty good...a friend of mine had them tint his IS350 and before that his IS300, he seems to like them.

He has 35% and i think its too light. I know anything darker is a no-no in MA, but i plan on getting at least 20%.

 

I had Sonny's do mine. They are located in Saugus. They do real nice work( done over 20 cars for me over the yrs), and they will install the tint that is legal in MA. I had them do a band on the windshield also.

Where in Billerica is Solar Solutions located. How long does install take. Does price include sunroof? I assume you are happy with their work.
