Most Dramatic/Effective Exterior Mods

What are all your fav. exterior mods? With all that's out there its hard to pick and cloose what to get. What do you all think looks best? What is the best bang for the buck? I'd like to hear what you all think.

Tinted windows (not, technically, an exterior mod, I suppose) and followed closely by Lamin-X light treatment. Both cheap and cool. Plus, one actually serves a useful purpose or two.

It's not to everyone's taste, but if you want dramatic:

I always get a crowd clustered around the car when it's dark and I have them fired up. Lots of "I usually think LEDs look tacky but that looks good!" comments are generally heard.

I'm going to say graphics (roof/stripes) and driving lights.

I agree...color-coded wheel arches are the most effective (classy, prominent but not overstated) exterior mod. That or a roof graphic (adds tons of personality). Wheels are another great option.

Chrome black out, you already have the black stripes and hood scoop, this would bring the whole car together!

Best $ spent: Window Tint... the darker, the better.

Personally, I love the aero kit side sills but hate the aero kit bumpers (esp the rear... the front is OK), so I just added the sides.

It's not cheap, but painting the arches (esp on a lighter color) really has an effect on the look of the car.

thanks!

I really like what im hearing. painting the wheel arches looks great esp on the pepper white one. Im working on the chrome removal i just got the beltline kit frm outmotoring today. The ultimate girlles look better than the stock chrome ones. I am wondering what to do about the door handles and gas cap. please keep your thoughts coming

I painted both the gas cap and handles myself. the cap looks great and looks pro. the handles on the other hand didnt come out so hot. plus they are prone to chip from all the use. If you can get them painted by a shop they would be sick.

Here are a few for you:

Rieger Front bumper, Aero side skirts (Best single change I think), M7 extreme hood scoop, M7 upper hood grill, Matched M7 (GrillCraft) lower bumper grill, also on rear aero bumper openings, Orcami Cowl scoops w/M7 grill material, S2000 Antenna, added center rear reverse light to '05. Good luck, hope you find what you are looking for.

Other ideas I'm considering and other ideas you might think about too: Lowering springs, window tint, belt line blackout, driving lights, mirror covers, wheels, roof graphics, spoiler, front bumper spliter.

Two things that I love every time I look at my car:

1. Shorty Antenna. Simple and inexpensive. I went with the Alta because it was the shortest at the time. I've thought about making little business cards to stick on MINIs with stock antennae, telling them to go online and buy a shorty. Your MINI doesn't have to look like an RC car!

2. Debadged Boot. Simple and free!

painted interior..if you do all the work yourself and send just the parts for paint the cost would be fairly minimal for such a change.

check the pics in my gallery

Most effective: Clearbra.

Most dramatic that isn't lambo doors or blue LED lights on a HO Cabrio:

WHY.... CHECKERS, OF COURSE !!!!

And for the ladies, don't forget your accessories:

But don't show her the website. You'll be buying more than ONE purse !

Edit: There's about 6 kajillion bags on that website. Try this link for that specific bag:

I think a really cheap mod that makes a dramatic appearance change is to use blackout tape on your grille, really makes a difference on lighter colored cars.

LOL... I wanna see those.
I do all my own stunts!
Here they are (along with the "home-made" plastic grip tow hook -- and a grill badge is always and simple mod):

Those are nylon plugs from Lowe's painted with touch-up paint. Another (less original) use of nylon plugs:

I didn't use paint on those, but if you're looking for something else to use touch-up paint for, how about a body color cig. lighter?

In keeping with the theme of homegrown mods -- you always need the home-made scoop grill (bad photo - the grill is finished with a silver paint that doesn't show well here). . . oh, and those are self-applied eBay bonnet stripes:

. . . and what could be classier than cutting down the OEM antenna with wire cutters to make your own stubby?

oh -- almost forgot my latest home-mod -- the painted brake calipers:

hmmmm, can you tell my wife keeps me on a limited allowance to feed the mod habit?

None of these are dramatic -- but if effective takes into account "bang for your buck", I'm doing alright . . . now I just need to find some plywood for a whale tail spoiler.
