my cooper is an 02...everything used to be silver and it was really bland...its got the 5 piece dash and the only part that held me up was the dash piece over the airbag which one of the people on nam helped me out thanks minihune.. other than that its pretty straight forward just finding the screws and where everything snaps together.
WOW! That looks fantastic! OK, what did you do to prep, what kind of paint did you use, was there a clear coat applied, or is that just how glossy your paint was???? Please....details!!!
i prepped all the pieces just like when i did both my bumpers scuffed them up with fine gritt scuff pads and my buddy that has a paint booth sprayed them.. nothing special just some plastic bonding primer on some over the parts that were pretty worn but on most just two coats of paint and two coats of clear...i think they turned out amazing and compared with what it originally looked like....theres another pic of what it originally was up in my gallery now.
you have to take off the top of the dash to get to a bar that two cloth strips are wrapped around conecting to the dash piece in front of the airbag...once the top of the dash is off then you can look and see how the piece is connected a couple screws at the top of the piece and a couple on bottom and its off.

Looks absolutely incredible! Pro paint beats rattle-can every time.
For the down tubes, I would definitely suggest clear film after proper curing time. High wear area that will look really bad after some months of knee wear.
Good job!!!
