Interior/Exterior Hood Air Extractor Scoop
Will the thing work period? I'm not thinking this will do much for resale. I'm guessing that this only works with M7 IC, makes me wonder what happened with the engineering in the first place that the answer is cut a large hole in the hood.
The hold up at the moment is ME. I have had a hectic two weeks and Peter has had the final sign off piece in his hand for at least a week waiting on me to get it installed on my car. I have a easy week coming up and the only guy I trust with a sharp instrument near my car will be back from vacation on tuesday. I will do my best to get it put in and photos taken next week. I will take some shots of the uderside for those that were curious this weekend . Sorry about the delay its my fault this time.

I think it's supposed to help the DFIC reach the efficiency of a stock intercooler.
And to do that all it takes is a skill saw to your hood? What do you suppose a new hood costs. This is by far the most insane "mod" I've seen yet and there are lots to go around.

I have an installer/ painter all set up to go. Astro Black body color for the door handles,gas cap,badges,side grills,interior chrome headlights/tail lights
and custom stuff for the extractor scoop

I think I misunderstood your post. Are you saying that even with a good portion of the hood removed the DFIC will never reach the efficiency of a stock intercooler?
Hasn't M7 posted the data on this?
Well they offered test results saying that even without this added mod, it was more efficient than the stock one. You stated that this is required to reach the efficiency of the stock one. I was wondering where you got this information to suggest that it performs less efficiently than the stock cooler.

exceed the rate of cooling without the new exit air vent

ps, it's an intercooler. You hit these with little sticks. Big sticks are for suspension work!
Look at the hood of the Caddy ctsv racer car and you'll get the hack saw out.

Thinks to consider with ICs...
driving style and other goodies. I went from the DFIC to the GP cause of higher RPM work. For street driving, the DFIC is great. It's designed to have very good thermal efficiencies, and this pays off at lower speeds. But as you start to live on the track, then giving up some thermal efficiency for reduced pressure drop is worth considering. The speeds are higher, so there's more cooling air flow. But RPMs can be screaming for a good portion of the track, and ICs that have a higher drop take a hit here.
FWIW, go look up your stuff from Chemistry or Physics. Read about the ideal gas law. It's air density that you want to maximize, and this is a function of both pressure and temp. So you can have an IC with better thermal properties that works less well, or you can have an IC with worse thermal properties, that delivers more oxygen to the engine. You have to keep both pressure and temp in mind.

Mine was hand built but the production pieces will be fiber glass to my knowledge. If that is not the case I will correct myself later
