my toggle switch panel mod

alot of you have added the 6th toggle switch for your rear fogs or whatever, i took a different approach, and it was a little more complicated than just adding in the toggle switch.

instead of just drilling my remote bass **** for my amp under my dash, i decided to put it in the open spot where the other toggle was supposed to go.

heres a few pics, its not done, cuase im an idiot and broke this remote ****, so i gotta get another one

heres a pic of the **** just sitting in there, in general, this is how it will be mounted. i gotta find a good way to secure it.

the board from the inside, i thought i was gonna have to drill thru it, which i did a little, then stopped, cuase i just drilled the thru the plastic, see the pic under this one

for the wire to go through:

and a pic of where i stand now, until i get my new ****.

you prally noticed the little hole i drilled too...i had the bass ****'s LED in that. well i didnt know there was an LED behind that on the board (stock LED) so right now, the light just shines thru like this, ill prally put the LED back in there, idk, ill figure something out.

There are aftermarket chrome toggles that will match the OEM switches better than the one you have - just an FYI. Unless it's a POT? It's hard to tell from the photo...

Ah... That's going to be weird on there, even chromed. I would have stowed it out of sight but easily reachable, like in the knee bolster personally...

Nice setup so far pimpedout97x and sorry for the bad luck on the broken switch. After working on my MINI for a few years now, I have came to the conclusion that life is never as easy as what the directions say it will be .

Where would a be a good place to buy a single aftermarket oem looking toggle switch?

I just finished installing an Alta light bar on a friend's MCS and now just have to finish wiring them. For those of you who don't know, MINI won't let you order a single new toggle switch, you have to buy the whole new toggle switch panel with the rear fog light option which retails for $195 .

Don't quote me on this, but I think Classic MINI is selling the full panel for $75 shipped -- not as cheap as buying one toggle, but better than $195

Most auto parts places like NAPA have an assortment of chrome toggles - I've never seen a PRECISE match, but I've seen ones that are pretty close. I'd also check at salvage yards if all you want is a replacement switch - it's a part that tends to NOT be damaged in a crash. If you find a car with a rear fog, you can get a full set of switches, even...

you know what i might do? i just had a HELLA good idea

im gonna find a toggle to match, cut the bottom off, and put it on the ****, so itll look like a toggle, but it will really turn like a ****

i think that would look better than the black ****, the black **** just pulls right off too

I found this out today when I talked to MAG:

The early 02-04 model MCS's panel retails for around $70-$80 depending on the dealer. As of the latter part of 04, they changed the part and # and that one retails around $190ish.

I was referring to the $190ish price because I'm looking for one that fits an 05' MCS.
