Interior/Exterior R56 scoop removal
There is a rubber plug on the under side of the hood directly under the scoop. The plug is hiding a screw. Remove the screw then pull REALLY hard on the scoop. The scoop will just "pop" off.

I don't want to bang my car up. Thanx!!!!
It is a little easier if you use a pair of needle-nose pliers to push the grey plastic thing (you'll know what it is when you see it) through its hole, pushing the scoop out enough to grab underneath. Once you can get your fingers under it, just pull. It'll have a little resistance and you'll hear it pop out one fastener at a time.

No prob... thats what I opened mine for (p.s. the ALTA CAI/ Inlet Hose is sweet!). If you get stuck feel free to PM me and I'll snap some pics of what I'm talking about (I would now, but I'm at work

I just did it. No pliers needed.
For those that plan to do it, it is 1 torx head to remove then 4 phillips heads for the small grill. The grill is now out. Right now, I am going to paint the grey retainer flat black so it does not stick out like a sore thumb. Thanks!!
Forget the paint. Too messy!! I used a black Sharpie pen. It came out nice.

I did paint mine and it came out great...take a look at this thread..https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=116016
I got it from local auto store. Cost 10 USD. It is a big piece that is made for the front grill actually.
Forgot to mention I did crack one of the slot on the scoop. So take it easy to pop it. I started from the back side towards the windshield.

donuttang, the wire scoop plug looks great! How did you connect it to the stock fittings?
Also i was looking at trying to remove the hood scoop today and wasnt able to do it.
I removed the pad and saw the gray tab that you push the tabs closed to release it.I didnt see anything else to remove nor did i see this black plug with a screw underneath to remove.
Please help
So, just to clear things up, you would need to pop off the entire hood scoop to get to the grill.... I just installed my ddmworks intake and am needing to do this to dremel out the grill... sucks that you have to take the whole scoop off first.
