While the hood scoop is not a real functional part as it was in the R53, I blocked the actual opening in the hood scoop with clear plexi so as to not allow rain in on the electrical parts on top of the engine.
The MCS is now coming with the scoop partially open. About 50% of the grid in the scoop is open on mine (built in April). While it doesn't feed a cold air intake, it allows some air in while driving, and allows heat to escape over the turbo when the engine is shut off. If I were you, I'd remove that plex.

I purchased all of my grille mesh from an ebay supplier called the "grilleguy" (Scott & John) It does take some modification including removing plastic tabs to mount the mesh flat. feel free to contact me if you decide to try this mod. www.grilleguy.com

I got all of the grille mesh from an ebay supplier called the "grilleguy" www.grilleguy.com It does take quite a bit of modification including cutting off numerous plastic tabs from the factory bumpers to mount the grille mesh flat. If you are thinking about this mod feel free to contact me for more details.

I wonder if they have that mesh grill for the upper grill as well? As a owner of a silver car, I would love to do the lower & upper as well as the back grill. That would be a pretty neat look!!!

All of my grille mods required quite a bit of custom fitting as the mesh comes in flat sheets and they are not cut to fit as direct replacements. I also thought about the mesh for the upper grille, but it seemed to be better to replace the upper grille with the factory chrome grille from the MC. Keep in mind that the factory chrome grille, while it fits, had to also be drilled out to give it adequate cooling for the much hotter MCS. If you have specific questions about what I had to do to complete this mod, feel free to contact me.
